Anyone else think the ilvl requirement for Ultima HM is too low?

Been trying like hell to pug this in DF(in my monk gear) for a while now and it seems like no group I've been in has come close. After my first run as a whm and looking at the gear for some of the party members, they seemed really undergeared for what i think the fight requires. Anyone else running into this problem or have had similar thoughts?

IMO its more considered extreme mode, since its alot harder than any HM and also refering to the Echo steps.

Duty finder has been the most god awful place lately. I've not been able to clear anything in it above titan HM. People coming into garuda ex with moogle weapons, people not knowing the fight and trying to "blend in" while wiping the party....

ultima hm is more about dodging mechanics and coordination than raw numbers. the dps check at the end is quite small and most groups dont even see it he dies so fast.

the real trick is getting everyone to coordinate on the last set of orbs. this is where ive seen most groups fail, even premades. other than that its usually just 1 or 2 people that cant dodge in the earlier phases..

Create your own party, Set Ilvl higher then the minimum. problem solved. The Ilvl requirement on fights are the bare minimum, and require a fair amount of skill to win a bare minimum.

I don't think it's the ilevel and more like rope jumping required...mainly those crushing orbs. You basically win the fight every time but because sticking together to kill 4 of these orb links isn't intuitive at all your party ends up dying to them most of the time.

I ran the dungeon at least 20 times last week and won only once because all the parties kept on dying to that same last orbs mechanic at the end. So we basically have the skill the win the fight but because we didn't jump the last rope we lose.

At least in Titan EX you jump the ropes on your own and you learn as you die from them, but I really question the decision to make those orbs instant death mechanics when it requires 7/8 or 8/8 people to to all be alive to all handle those orbs at a very specific time, less than 5 seconds. That shouldn't call for instant death...

There is a HUGE difference between effective needs and potential needs that must be met in Ultima HM. Assuming people went into DF the right way (IMHO), talking amongst one another, getting a feel for the experience level of their fellow party members and taking the time and effort to coach each other through the necessary mechanics, I think the ireq is acceptable as a bare minimum requirement. We're all mostly acquainted with the fact that this is not how things work, though. Self servile and win or quit mentalities increase the need for gear to compensate for teamwork.

A lot of people don't like explaining...
For example...it's really easy to tell them about the trap that Ultima sets up after Garuda/Titan are gone. He does this magic attack that covers the entire map, after that he summons Ifrit's underground blasts in the middle of the map. A lot of people die to this trap because they all go to the middle to heal with the healer. But people never like explaining this.

I think instead of requiring ilevel some of these dungeons should require a mechanics explanation leader
Second requirement should be to choose a partner to stay together with for the last 4 orb links. But then your partner has to be alive for this...

DF Ultima HM has been a pain lately, I'm getting lots of tanks not knowing they have to switch MT (or worse, not knowing how to switch MT) and ppl not knowing how to handle orbs....oh and they magically fotget how eruptions, plumes, etc work...

And of course when you ask "anyone new to the fight?" you get the silent treatment and you wipe.
Then you take a deep breath, and reach your most inner zen and try to explain the fight everytime, only to get another silent treatment which, I guess, is the closest you'll ever be to talk to a wall, and you wipe again.

It's not a problem of ilvl. You can get a group with full weathered soldiery gear and animus but still fail at it. It's all about dealing with mechanics. Doesn't matter if you have full 110 and a 115 weapon when you can't deal with mechanics.
