Chaos Thrust is Worthless!

I have recently gone through 2 runs via Duty Roulette of Brayflox's Longstop (Hard) and the players that I have been going with have criticized me, insulted me (and eventually voted me out) for refusing to use the LV 50 Dragoon ability, Chaos Thrust. I have tried to use it before and found it to be an attack that is much weaker than most of my other attacks and in its description, it is said to be part of a combo attack with Impulse Drive and Disembowel. The reality is that the indicator that is supposed to appear when you are able to use an attack as part of a combo never appears and as a result the Chaos Thrust only hits for its normal attack strength.

What is the point of making the Chaos Thrust a LV 50 attack for the Dragoon if it is completely ineffective and why do I have to take vulgar criticism for not using a worthless attack?

Hit from the rear with Impulse Drive to initiate the combo. The Chaos Thrust combo is DRG's most useful combo, for its debuff from Disembowel, and the major damage the entire combo does if Chaos Thrust's DoT is able to live out long enough.

Truth be told it was entirely appropriate for you to be criticized. If I would see a DRG who didn't use it I'd note it as well.

You're not using a 500 potency attack that is, as far as I can tell, second only to Barrage in potency (not counting AOE attacks). The fact that I'm having to compare it to a 90 second CD just to get similar potency should tell you something.

You are not using your class properly, hence they will think you are not pulling your weight and that you are getting carried for under performance. And I do hate people being stubborn when they are wrong as if they know what they are doing when people give out tips, in a nce way, to help the wrong doers perform better. Part of the cause that leading to the insult is your fault for being stubborn and you refuse to re-question your knowledge. The FT-DE-CT is a combo can only be performed when FT successfully hit from BEHIND, not from any where else, hence you don't see the indicator, leading to CT not having its optimal DPS.

Maybe, you could less stubborn and learn to re-access your knowledge/yourself when people help you. And also learn to handle criticize as well which in turn, will help you a lot in real life. Life is full of critizm.

I can only guess that you aren't using the entire chain. Just ID or just Disembowel won't trigger Chaos Thrust's combo bonus. It must be ID from behind, then Dis, then CT. Note that the positioning on steps 2 and 3 doesn't matter as long as ID hits from the rear.

So yes, you should be using CT except when the target won't live long enough to make the combo pay off.

Did you realize if you have Heavy Thrust buffs, your Chaos Thrust potency will raise up to 575 potency total?

You just make Dragoon crystal crying, please drop it and let someone else don't have it get it ;p

I'd wager CT is the strongest single-target attack period (at the same weapon damage, main attribute, etc...yay casters having more WD per ilv than physicals...). 200 instant potency and a 300 potency DoT...don't think even Bio 2 is as strong potency-wise (with Contagion, yeah, but on its own, no, and you can only Contagion once every other Bio 2...)

So...yeah OP, you do deserve to be criticized. Learn your class, really.

I do appreciate the feedback everyone is giving me on this but now after going through a couple of runs through the high level dungeons and having figured out how to use it effectively, I am now finding myself getting mad when I am in the middle of attempting the combo, the enemy gets turned around (usually when the tank runs away from an aoe) and I'm like "damn it, hold still!" I don't know if it is the anger from getting insulted has flipped a switch on me and it has turning me into what I didn't want to be when I play a video game, because it is just a game. I really hope that it isn't.
