Sad truth is that people hate FF14, but keep playing because they think they need virtual gear to feel better about themselves.
If a MMO put all gear for free in town, and made dungeons and raids drop nothing, you'd see the exact amount of people playing for fun and not out of mental disorders. It would be a good field to get a doctors degree within.
What's your point? There where people that were in their late 80's playing WoW when it launched and were part of the guild I was in. Player age is insignificant to the actual age of when MMO's where released.
I'm talking about MMO's that were released in the late 1990's and early 2000's where the notion of "instanced raid" didn't exist that current MMO standards rely heavily for doing end game content.
So let me get this straight. I am currently mocking every player that doesn't have High Allagan gear? Hmm. Sounds a bit like harassment. Why aren't I banned? Oh, wait because that's a ludicrous statement. Why else is it important that it is unique and special? Clearly it is for "special snowflake" people who need to be able to tell others they are better than you.
People who don't need to gloat, don't need special drops. They can take the same ones as the easier modes because they play for fun and not gloating.

Still not sure if you're trolling or what especially with your last post. You can't be serious.
The whole point of Brutal Coil is to be the fights as the devs first designed them, with no regard to whether or not it will be beatable. It is completely untuned, thats the whole point. Its not for saying "the people who can beat this are really good," its for saying "oh wow it was actually was possible to beat that fight"
And I'm not sure what you mean about by T7 and T5 are broken. Last I checked they fixed T5 in early December, and haven't seen any maintenance done on T7 so....
And I would love to try these Brutal fights, hopefully they include T1-5 versions not just T6-9. Would love to see the original design for Twintania and for T4.
Yeah people that do down Brutal within the first 3 weeks really deserved their allagan gear.
Brutal mode is solely for bragging rights, titles and the ability to be able to act smug and have something to show for it as they have beaten the hardest version of that instance.
You know when ppl are like
" yea finally got my T9 kill"
Then some guy comes along and says stuff like
"Lol grats but come back when you down T9 brutal mode"
That wasn't what I was talking about, but ok. Gee, I'm 80 years old now? :/ I'm not as old as my grandmother. And while my beloved grandmother could play if she wanted to, she doesn't really care to.What's your point? There where people that were in their late 80's playing WoW when it launched and were part of the guild I was in. Player age is insignificant to the actual age of when MMO's where released.
I'm talking about MMO's that were released in the late 1990's and early 2000's where the notion of "instanced raid" didn't exist that current MMO standards rely heavily for doing end game content.
ALL, I was saying, if I was saying anything, is when did MMOs not throw gear behind raids? Can you name one game? Here, I'll help you: City of heroes. That one only counts because it had no gear whatsoever.
Which is how I think this game should be. Gear doesn't give you superpowers. Unless you are this guy: http://youtu.be/Ui1T071doeE At best gear in games should give you protection...
But then again, City of Heroes's servers were taken down. We live in a material world. People want: "stuff" And more recently (not long ago like you said) people want that stuff without having to do anything for it.
Yea ok. Let's just say no one earned their gear... because, reasons. Really how do you earn gear in this game that only has a small chance to drop anyway. I am higher ilvl than my friend that formed a static on their own and downed turn 9. That doesn't make me as good of a player than him. He's the one that is a better player. I just got luckier with drops. So, having gear means nothing anyway. It's no "prize" for being a good player. It's merely a carrot to go do the content.

My thoughts, word for word.Brutal Mode should have no reward other than the title, and it's cool as it is. It is something that is not actually meant to be completed, if they put any kind of reward in it people will start complaining that it's too hard and it will eventually be nerfed, defeating the "brutal" purpose.
There is no need for incentive for this sort of content. It is designed as an extra challenge. The title alone is bragging rights enough- i imagine it will be super rare.
