    I very much doubt the Ninja will use DEX as it stats, it only affects ranged damage and they have already said that they will be bringing out another ranged class so that will be sharing DEX with the BRD.

    They would have to completely change DEX to allow piercing damage from daggers/swords and I doubt that'll happen aswell.

    But ya, the thing ppl should be most afraid of is the possibility of the Ninja actually being alot better than the MNK/DRG and that then leading to them being replaced everywhere, it is another melee class after all.

    Daggers will be Slashing type i think, so people will want to have the WAR/NIN combo.

    thats another thing i am concerned about,to me Ninja may work similar to Ifrit egi,as skills from Rogue will mostly be slashing type(not sure about blunt tho),while Ninja “spells” are magical,plus that thunder reverse stab skill could also be of piercing type

    I don't understand why this thread went on for this long. =x

    We can speculate for days, but the simple fact is that we don't know what Ninja will be based off of. If they are to keep the current stats as is they could do one of two things: Make ninjas based off strength, which would be the logical thing assuming no other changes to the fundamental way stats work are made, OR make ninjas based off dex and modify the tooltip for dexterity to reflect that it no longer only affects ranged physical damage.

    They could also add agility to the game and have Ninja based off that. And for that matter, in many many games I've played dexterity and agility are not the same thing. Dexterity is typically used for an accuracy-type stat(ranged damage or just straight up solely for your hit chance) and agility is typically used as a nimble-type stat(evasion and/or agile melee dps scaling).

    Given all of this, I believe that they will do one of two things:

    -Have Ninja scale with strength

    Depending on how many classes they would like to add, this could or could not be likely. If they want to continue to add many classes and have the diversity that XI had, they won't do this if they have the foresight in my opinion.

    -Introduce agility and have them scale with that

    If they want to eventually have many classes/jobs, I think it would be in their best interest to add agility now instead of wishing they had done it later on in development. Right now we have four main stats that DPS could potentially scale from(assuming Mind can be used as a DPS stat for a class at some point, otherwise we have three). Throwing every single type of melee class into strength seems undesirable.

    Why not just have them scale with dex? Well, dexterity is already established as the ranged dps stat. They could, as I said earlier, just modify the tooltip for dex and give them dex gear then be done with it. That'd be fine and all, except for the fact that we know there is going to be a gun class. Guns are ranged. They'll likely scale with dexterity. Introducing two jobs that scale with dexterity at the same time seems highly unlikely and would require reassigning dexterity's purpose as an attribute.

    I see a lot of posts suggesting that the gun class/job will be a job that stems from the Rogue class. Aside from the whole "two (potentially) dex jobs at the same time" thing (and in this case they WOULD be dex because of the ranged thing), I feel this is unlikely because Rogues use daggers and no other class/job combo in the game currently switches weapons when making that transition from class to job. Could this change in the future? Yeah, but it seems odd to do in this instance.

    If it were me, I'd add agility and be done with it. Even though Monk kinda seems like it should have been an agility class, it also can be seen as a bit of a gray area.

    Anyway... again, the length of this thread is pretty pointless considering we don't know enough yet. People are at eachother's throats over something we don't know enough about. We just have to wait and see.
