ITT: People don't want to help people just because they are nice.
They need something in return to do so.
    Wow folks.

As Zidane Tribal said in FF9: "You don't need a reason to help people."
Well come hop in XIV Zidane and see how peoples act lmao. Jesus.

I help random/non-FC people now because I'm bored/nice,but I'd help people more often if I got something for it. Don't know what server you all are on, but I'm not seeing all these caring souls on my own server in PF who (even in learning parties) never give up, or keep going after not progressing for an hour. Some of you seem like you're just trying to make yourselves look good.

There's a big difference between helping somebody who has potential and can actually pull their weight and carrying somebody through content. I'm all for helping people who are actually competent and can handle mechanics and don't require a reward for doing so and have done it numerous times, but I'm not about to sit there bashing my face against a wall with 0 progress and I don't know anyone who would do so willingly. If you're one of those "never give up" people then more power to you, you're a better soul than I am.

What a great ideal for us all to strive to be like. Now let's clue into how the game actually works and realize that this will never happen unless there are incentives.

There should never need to be incentives and they should never add any. There's already plenty of groups who sell carries through all content ranging from Primals (both Hard and Extreme) to BCoB. I'm sure it's not long before clears/gear from Second Coil start getting sold. Why add insult to injury and give these types of people even more reason to do so? People should be getting access to content based on their own skill, not that of a group of 7 others who can do the fight without the 8th person.

They don't learn that way and only make things unnecessarily difficult for people down the road when they throw their unskilled asses into a group to try and clear new content.

I can understand giving incentive for people to run the DF, like they did with Roulette, but that's about it. Like open up a BCoB1 Roulette and a EX Primal Roulette.
Since the transition between FFXI and FFXIV: ARR. Imo it was much easier to gather parties and accomplish things in FFXI than it is in FFXIV. The FFXI community was more friendly and helpful in many ways. I think FFXI had a learning curve to it to where by around level 20 people either stayed or left because they couldnt handle the way it was played, This in turn lead to people that really wanted to play the game being the higher people and willing to help because it was set up to be a party game, there wasn't much to do without a party for the most part.

    +1 to this

I quit FFXI at around level 10~ish for this reason. I don't think people REALLY feel the learning curve in ARR until after they've already hit level 50. At that point you've got to give them a couple months to....do stuff.

I knew FFXI was going to be bad for me when I left Windhurst for the very first time, and got served by a level 1 mandragora
