I wish SE would just give you alexandrites for logging into the game. Anything else is too hard.

This is what happens when you screw up the relic quest by making the first part (atma) doable by spamming a single key and turn the second part into nothing but a time sink with zero attention requirements, let alone skill. When you go ahead and add something that can actually kill you, even as easy as it could be to overcome, you get people complaining about it.

No one is complaining about dying. What we're saying is that:

    1) No where on the Mysterious Maps description OR the quest does it warn you that they're any different than the treasure hunting ones (regarding OHKO mechanics), or that you might need help as the Peisteskin do ("Level 50 full-party recommended").

    2) If you die, you lose the map and the alexandrite for good. When I go to Coil, if I die or if the timer runs out, I can still keep trying. It doesn't tells me "Oh, bad luck, you died. Come back tomorrow!".

If these two things were solved, I'm sure that we would be having fun even if the maps were harder than they are now. I would, at least.

Note that I've not had this happen to me, but I can feel the pain of those that lost their maps because of this.

"ATTENTION! You may actually die during this encounter! Do you wish to proceed?

YES! -- No, wtf SE, I'm not paying to die in a video game"

    Are you being serious?

Would you mind to remind me then why do they warn us for the peisteskin maps, or any other kind of hard/group content (during quest's text, for instance)? It's bad design as it changes from the way that it has been done until now, no matter how hard you try to defend it, nor how hard you try to troll/look smart/tergiverse what I said.

Nowhere did I twist your words. If you find what I said laughable or insulting, then you find your own complains to be on the same level. It's exactly what you asked: a warning that you could die at something in a game like FFXIV.

As for the other warnings, I can only assume they were added because at some point someone in development figured they'd please people like you with redundant warnings.

"Warning: This map is a DISCIPLE OF WAR map, be sure you are ready because you might die, no complaining now!! :P"

Disciple of War/Magic implies the ability to die.

"Warning: You are now exiting a neutral area, do you wish to proceed? You may die. Yes/No"

May as well make it stop you outside of every town barrier.

I just soloed this map that has brought so much anger among people xD. It consists of a golem and 2 spawn sets of 5 bombs. Guys, it is VERY easy! All you have to do is realize when the bombs spawn, and go full damage on them, they go down VERY FAST, and they don't move until 10-15 seconds. If you ignore them, as I just said after 10-15 seconds they basically start running towards you and blow themselves up. Each one roughly does 1.5k-2k damage so it's easy to be instagibbed. Basically, you need to give them the same treatment you would give to Ifrit's Nails or Titan's heart.

It's not about redundant warnings, but about having them in all the previous content (including that from where it has been copy&pasted) and then, all of a sudden, you don't have them. Everyone is going to assume that it's designed as always and that they have nothing to fear, until they die and lose it. When you design something one way and then you change it, people won't know that it changed unless you tell them. That's exactly why this thread exists, and that's why I've had to warn my FC mates about this (not before some of them died and lost their maps, tho), and we've been helping each other just in case.

This has nothing to do with being handholded or anything like that, but about being deluded by a system that has been copied from an existing one, and that doesn't follow the previous design both for maps and for hard/group content. If this wasn't true you wouldn't have a lot of poeple of certain jobs being surprised and dying when they first encounter some these bosses. Once again, like it or not, but it has been implemented in a less than optimal way, and there you have the proof.

It wouldn't matter if the only "issue" would be dying. But, when they die for the first time, they usually haven't set their home on the nearest aetherite, nor bring some friend to help, nor know the strat beforehand (keep in mind that the bombs, for example, don't appear on the monster list), so they lose their maps without being able to try again. If it was just a surprising death, and not a loss of 800 myth or a daily, no one would be here saying this. If you can't see that, I don't know what else I can say.

Also, tell me, how would it hurt you if during the quest or on the map itself it said that there were hard fights ahead (as usual), and/or if it included the recommended ilvl along with the recommended level as it does now?

And to repeat it, no, I have not died on any of the maps. But even I can see that it's not very well done, and that it's not fair for those that have died and lost their maps, I'm not that blind.
