I did Morbol yesterday on my DRG and almost got killed, but i did find it fun. Was not expecting those maps to be a bit challenging, so yeah today i will be prepared.

You can also gain Alexandrites (the only reason you are doing the maps) from participating in fates while having your animus equipped. However, the drop rate is supposably low, basically RNG just like Atmas. Some people will get lucky, some wont. I did a ton of fates this morning trying to get one with no success.
Another person in a LS I'm in got like 1 or 2.
After looking at what's needed for Novus (in combination with the already lengthy Animus acquisition process), I will only be acquiring this on one Job. I am not sure I can subjugate myself to the task of doing another.
The Morbol almost got me as well when it rooted then used breath on me 3 times. choco, pots and 2nd wind saved the day.

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with asking for help, guys. I always encourage my people to invite others if they're doing maps, you don't have to risk your drop and they'll receive free gil for doing so. It would be nice if they could have a small chance to get an alexandrite with your map.

haha
I got that rock golem on my very 1st mystery map. Saw those group of bombs popping, so me being a BLM, I instantly flared them. They are surprisingly weak and dies within 1 flare only. The bomb group popped twice before I finally trashed the golem. I do ask ls mate to help back me up as healer. Always think for backups if unsure, something I learn painfully back from peisteskin solo attempt. lol

Bombs might also have mechanic that they split dmg from explosion to all people caught in it?
Only done one so far, helped a friend with Marlboro, she got rooted+bad breath, luckily had my healing choco with us to keep her topped off.

The problem is that, as far as I remember, these maps don't say anything like the peisteskin maps ("level 50 full party recommended", blahblahblah). They just say "Level 50" like the normal maps, so I guess that it's safe to assume that people are going to try them solo. Stupid on SE's part, specially when you lose the map and the alexandrite if you die.
My first maps have been a cakewalk, but I guess it will be safer to bring some backup from now on, just in case. My only AoE as PLD has a CD, you know. But what of those that don't visit the forums? How are they going to know that these are NOT solo maps for some jobs or that, even if all your previous maps have been easy, the next one might leave you with a stupid face after dying?
This should be better explained in the description, something along the lines of "this is a hard map, you would be better if you get some help". As it stands now, you just see a map identical to the treasure hunting ones, and most people won't have prior knowledge of what you can get if you're unlucky.

I also died to the bombs today....800myth gone.
They persist even after the golem is dead which was a shock...as a Monk all i really have to mitigate is featherfoot =/ Will try and use rockbreaker on them next time...hope they dont have much hp.

Why not bring a friend, or make a group on PF? Seems better than risking losing out on another Alexandrite.
