The Ul'duh Inn is like an antique shop...full of crap and always closed."You don't have to say anything, I just look at your life now and work backwards." - Black Books
By subscription, i mean the account that's associates my character with my personal data and payment information which was required to make one in the first place. You have no subscription. Just leave the game and come back later.
You absolutely could be 100% sure what enmity levels were in FFXI, it was calculated down to a tee by some people. Besides that, as many MMOs have gathered, enmity can be manipulated in a lot of ways to cause uncertainty, such as rapid hate shedding.
Spells causing erratic hate doesnt cause skillful play in my opinion, it just takes away from the fun. I'd prefer to have to learn to deal with the difficulities of battle such as moving out of danger etc rather than having to be concerned whether casing Fire II is going to kill me.
And sure you could calculate it, but during a battle with an alliance? I have never seen anyone escape a wipe through calculating hate or warn someone else about hate levels. It was up to every member to determine how enmity shifted and gear that affected enmity played a role in it as well. It was the main difficulty of the combat system and you're only spouting nonsense.
No, you all did not match the real point of this thing...
The enmity meter will be seen only by who has hate or by everyone? I think that only the one who has hate will see this, the other members of the party will not have the icon visible, so DPS cannot see the hate they have!
This is why i think in casual parties (no ventrilo/ts/mumble/voice chat) this feature will not affect the actual game. It can affect it if the tank can told you the color of his icon ^^
And another important thing. If the mob is preparing an AOE move, will you see the icon or not? If yes, you can prepare your defense skill/moves/stun/punishing barbs; if not, the game will remain the same as it is now.
Last but not least, if you take aggro you can scream on voice chat "I HAVE GREEN HATE" so a Provoke is sufficient; "I HAVE ORANGE HATE", maybe Provoke+Taunt; "I HAVE RED HATE", Provoke+Taunt+Everything that generate hates (deja vu FFXI Benediction! XD)
My 2 cents...
Come on guys, I know people in FFXI that would have appreciated an aggro icon. Remember during Kirin fights how people had that macro they would make that would say in party chat who the mob was currently attacking? It was used outside of Kirin fights too. This is really the same thing. Just BETTER.
Players that want to maximize their DPS now have the meter to let them know how far they can go. Not to mention (but I'm going to mention it), WoW has an enmity meter and I personally think its a good feature. The 10 million other subscribers must too, they play the game. EVE Online doesn't even have enmity, but it's the fastest growing MMO out there right now, if you believe CCP. I'm not sure why I threw that last in there, lol.
Bottom line, just because FF11 did not have one, and you've never used one, doesn't mean it might not be a good feature. Don't knock it 'till you try it! Didn't your mother teach you that one? (For all those who have tried it and are now knocking it, more power to ya).
HEY SE
let us figure SOME stuff out on our own...were not all brainless monkeys mashing on keyboards....
You would think with the majority of you stable playerbase being mainly FFXI players that they would realize giving everyone every bit of info is not what we want.
FFXI players were always clamoring for more info on the hidden effects of armor and weapons, not to mention ways to defeat bosses (AV anyone, PW anyone?). So lets not put on our rose colored glasses, its just too early in the morning ok?
Another one that uses "us" instead of "me" in his sentence.
I dont like the icon idea at all tbh, player should beable to control their eminity and not just spam button and wait for the machine to tell them the mobs will now take action on em
edit: I do belive player skill should be inrease as they play, but I think this is reverser in this game
Yes on the only 2 pretty much impossible to legit kill NMs...wow...great examples. Most of the stuff in FFXI was figured out by the community, the stuff we wanted to know was things like caps on certain stats (which people ended up figuring out anyway). A big appeal of FFXI was the mystery, unlike this game where they hand you every detail because its convenient.
If you need a blinking icon to figure out that you hitting to much or spamming to many spells, you should die, its a pretty basic concept.
with these lodstone updates a couple paragraphs a week on one topic it will be late august before 1.18 comes out according to yoshi-p stating they are going to introduce the patch after all the lodestone updates...
