I'm doing some research on Relic Reborn now.

I take it the tomes only becomes dungeon rewards once I hit level 50? To replace XP? I can't find anything online other than that they're rewards.

Some trials and dungeons give mythology tomes, others give mythology and soldiery tomes. As you advance in the story line you'll start to get tomes.

The low level duty roulette only gives tomes if you are already level 50 (once a day.) If you are not level 50 it gives a lot of extra exp once a day, so it is worth doing it.

There are web sites where you can see the rewards each dungeon gives, and lots of more information (hunting log mobs placement, skills, leves, quests, a lot more.) For example:

    Cheers

This page is actually really helpful and has a table partway down showing what gear to aim for, once you cap, then the next 2 levels of progression. Really helpful, especially in conjunction with all the above posts!

    Edit: I misread something!

I have some other kind of related questions.

I obviously got my GLD to level 30 and my CNJ to level 15 to be able to use PLD. When we're talking about cross-class abilities.

    1. Do the CC abilities i use from CNJ, depend on the level of my CNJ. For example, do i need my CNJ to be at level 34 to be able to use Stoneskin as a CC ability with my Paladin?

    2. If i also start levelling up MRD, can i use CC abilities from that class as well as CNJ? If so, how?

Hi there, congrats on lvl 50 ^^

    1. Yes you need cnj 34 (why not get the soulstone for WHM since he's gonna be over 30? ) to unlock Stoneskin on CNJ class, then you can freely use it with any other class, or specific jobs that has CNJ as available CC.

    2. If you really plan on becoming a better tank, you will need MRD CC Skills. Fracture, Foresight, BloodBath, Mercy Stroke are the ones I use on my PLD, with Stoneskin.

The order of CC skills you will add on your CC bar makes a difference and are synced depending of the lvl you will be. So I always put Stoneskin first, it makes people very happy in Low-Level Dungeons

If you really want Cure, I would take out Foresight, since as PLD we have plenty of Defensive skills.
    Keep it up, cheers!

At first I read CC as Crowd Control and thought to myself, how is stoneskin crowd control. Then the moment passed and I realized you are referring to cross class ^.^

    To answer your question..

    1. Yes. Stoneskin can only be used if your CNJ is 34, if you take CNJ to 36 and use stoneskin as PLD you will not get the bonus the CNJ/WHM does at 36. Your stoneskin will remain at lvl34 in potency.
    2. It is recommended to lvl your MRD to 26 for access to Mercy Stroke. It activates when the mob is @20% HP. A nice way to know when the fight is getting close to being done, especially on boss fights. If you kill the mob with Mercy Stroke being the killing blow then you receive a heal of up to 20% of your max HP. I usually get around a 1350HP restore when I use it.

    IIRC my CC selections are:
Stoneskin, Mercy Stroke, Bloodbath, Fracture, Foresight

We don't have a lot to choose from to begin with. Cure is terribad, no need for raise in duties, whoever dies can just port to the entrance and shortcut back, who want's rez sickness anyways. Also can't use raise when it would be useful, like during a fight, so it's out.

The MRD skill we are left with aren't glorious but not terrible either. Bloodbath is fun with fight or flight. Fracture is just....fracture. Foresight is a increase in defense and that is always welcome.

    Hope it helps!

Sounds like i need to work on getting MRD up to a decent level then, and put some more time into CNJ. Something else to work on in-between gearing up!

Thank you everyone for all your input. Watch this space and i'll keep you all updated As i'm working through this, i'm putting together my own endgame PLD guide too for those who will be in the same position as me. Like a step-by-step of cross-class and endgame dungeons/raids/gearing up

Hi, about cross-class skills, for playing solo (fates, job or class quests, leves, etc) protect and cure can be very useful. In group play they aren't, you'll have a healer.

Mercy Stroke needs your target to be in low health to be used, so in real life you won't have that many opportunities to use it, but when you do, it's a free attack out of the GCD. You need to level the Maraduder quite more than for the other marauder cross-class abilities. I don't think it's so important as to rush to obtain it. Edit: It does become available more times than it looks like at first sight and is useful for the off GCD attack. The extra heal comes handy too if you get it.

Boodbath and foresight are not great, but they are useful and easy to obtain. Edit: The Paladin compendium suggests to macro bloodbath with fast blade so it's in use as soon as it can.

Stoneskin is the best one, most people agree. There are threads about cross-class skills in this forum.

Remeber that tip somebody said, the order in which you choose them will affect which you have and which you lose when you are level synced while playing lower level dungeons or fates. Each 10 levels you can have one more cross-class skill as a PLD. Level 50, 5 skills, level 40, 4 skills, etc.

Just a little update. Almost at level 50 now, at about 49.3 and I've reached the stage in the main story where I'm doing the dungeons. I did also pick up the Aeoilian Scimitar HQ for 155k (better than the usual 200k!), so I will be collecting tomes very shortly.

    2. Hit up AH and buy HQ Amber accessories for all slots. If they aren't there or seem pricey shout around for a goldsmith to make you some.
What do you mean? I've checked out the amber accessories, and it looks the best tank ones are around 300k each - i'm pretty good on the markets but that's mental! Is it worth holding out for accessories through drops/tomes? Or do I need to bite the bullet and invest?

Are you sure the Amber ones are that expensive? The best accesories are the Rose Gold or Gryphonskin, and those are very expensive, but should not have astronomic prices. A melded HQ Rose Gold accesory is great.

If cheap, a HQ Amber accesory is fine until you can have a better one. The Amber accesories are level 49 and when you reach level 50 you can wear better ones. The Wolf Amber accesories are level 55, they are worth it if not too expensive until you have access to better ones. Wolf accesories are new from patch 2.1, they didn't exist before and there was not this alternative to the Amber ones.

For tanks the Hero Ring is great, the rest of the myth accesories are not that great and you might need the myth tomes for other things (other myth gear, the oil for the relic, the Zenith upgrade, etc.) You might save the myth tomes and buy the soldiery accesories when you can. Until then the Wolf accesories are fine, Rose Gold or Gryphonskin better but maybe too expensive, depending on the gil you have available.

Edit: Militia accesories (or Imperial Operative or similar) are another alternative to the Wolf accesories, look at the price, the stats, and choose. In Odin the HQ Amber accesories are a few thousands gil. Wolf HQ and Militia HQ are expensive, 18000 or 20000 now, they used to be quite cheaper, at least the normal quality ones, but it seems crafters are farming tomes or atmas and don't have a lot of time to craft, and also there are not many things to save gil for (the new ilvl 90 crafted items are never for sale, too difficult or expensive to craft.)
