It's common courtesy, MMO or elsewhere, to do simple things that prevent you from wasting other peoples' time in group activities.
So the people who did the content and wiped sooooo many times, so you can watch said videos or do the "research" did what to help themselves? Oh right, they went in, learned from their mistakes and... what do you know.... they were able to make a video for people to do exactly what they did, but they only provide the video when they have downed it, so it always looks soooooo easy. Personally, I think the videos are a plague, helpful, but still a plague because it allows the others to suddenly say, that's easy... then someone messes up, OMG learn your job!! or some other random rage comment.

I prefer getting good/experienced while playing NOT "learning" a fight pattern.
But having people learn the pattern before? that makes the content 100% obsolete.
People memorize just fine by doing it (trial and error). What is so wrong about it. Thats basicly the only fun part of a dungeon/battle with that narrow-minded design.
Good job paraphrasing what Yoshida said and taking the meaning out of it. He doesn't want to design fights where random things happen because succeeding would come down to luck. How would you like it if you were playing Mario and you had a 50% chance every time you hit the jump button to just not jump? I'm not one of them, but I can imagine people at high experience levels, racing for world firsts, would be absolutely pissed if someone beat the boss before them just because they didn't get this specific ability active, they got an easier set of adds, some certain ability didn't target their tanks or healers or something else completely left up to chance like that.

As to your second point, why are you still playing if you don't enjoy this game's design choices? Despite the fact that a video of every fight in the game exists, why are there still people that can't clear them? It's because watching the video isn't enough. It helps, tremendously, but a lot of people lack the skill to be able to execute the fight properly. Would going in blind and ramming their face against it for hours and hours help? I'm not convinced it would. If they can't do it after being taught the pattern or with "cheats" like some people like to call it, how is going in with no knowledge going to help?

Which is the biggest con of end game being difficult and unforgiving.
Oh, I was in a T5 group where the requirements changed once we filled, causing many of us to get kicked:

    - iLv90+
    - You can only come as a job you completed this on AND show gear proof.
    - We will go to North Shroud and see if we can get into T6. This confirms you beat T5.
    - One death, and you're kicked.

    My question was:
"If the job we beat it on has all loot for that job, why would we come as that job?"

The leader raged and called us all noobs lol...

And those people were in a group where that was abundantly clear going in; abundantly clear it was a "learning" party, and abundantly clear that everyone had to figure it out together. Your point, it is beaten.

Edit: not that your argument was a good one to begin with.

Experience is the best teacher and yet the cruelest.

    I look at videos.

But that being said.... since when has it become mandatory to ... spoil encounters for yourself... before you even play them. its like those sad acts on twitch that watch other people play an mmo to level 50 before it even comes out.

Also as sad as the culture of when you aska friend something you dont know... they say "google it" .... seriously? communication is a bad thing? its team building for a start.... DF needs more of that.

Yoshi is making excuses for this game's poor combat and reliance on memory fights... the game is so inflexible in terms of skills sets and manoeuvrability that it simply wouldn't work well enough.

Then play WildStar if you want those kinds of fights. The combat in that game is free form and loose with a bunch of skillshots, so fights where you have to think on your toes and react quickly make sense. Not so much for FFXIVs combat. WoW had some fights with random elements too, but players complained that one week the fight would be easy and another it would difficult. So they moved the randomness outside of end game and moved it to the smaller dungeons, exactly what Yoshida said he was going to do.

Can you stop pointing to a game that is not even out? This reminds me of when swotor came out and it was better then wow if everything, look how that worked out.

Well...unless you're RMT or something similar.
Everything you do portrays your personality, even playing game.

The example shows exactly my point and how certain people would likely be in their real life.
