Same goes with 2-4 enemies. Usually a normal Flash or other AoE Emnity attacks is enough to take back Hate.

If you for some reason have a lot of emnity on multiple targets (How you now managed to do that), then Cover is useful.
I have yet to test this thoroughly, but it could largely because your damage taken, not damage dealt to you, is redirected. In other words, if a tank covers an ability that would one-shot you but deal minor damage to him, he'll be one-shot too. At least the last time I covered a MT with nearly every CD up I still melted like butter, taking damage identical (from what I could see from the floating combat text on the MT) to what he was taking, despite his being out of CDs.

That said, I cover frequently. my most common use for it lately has been on Leviathan, covering laggy healers or dps to prevent their being crushed when they don't seem to be far enough to escape the blow (given latency) but do seem far enough to avoid falling off, or when the rails are still attached. I haven't been crushed myself yet, so I don't know if I'm taking mitigated or unmitigated damage there.

Edit: We can't save you from magic, by the way. Just physical attacks, and only when you're not running away from us and we don't need to run away from you.

They fixed that in 2.2. The base damage is now split between the PLD and the Covered target so that mitigation CDs and other effects actually affect the damage so you don't have a PLD taking 2k cover damage from an attack that would normally hit them for 1.5k because it landed on a clothie.

My #1 thing I wish healers would do is stop running away from me when they get aggro. As a tank first and a healer second, I always run to the tank if Shroud of Saints isn't sufficient to get aggro off me (or if I'm playing SCH instead of WHM). I'm not saying you have to go like right up to em and share a brofist and a bearhug or anything (in fact this is a terrible idea on most bosses as many of them have frontal cone/line attacks), but dragging the mob within shield lob/tomahawk range is extremely helpful. Trust me, I don't want you to die either! In most cases if you die, I die with the DPS soon to follow; so bring it here! Help me help you!

Going hand in hand with that is the fact that Provoke has a pretty long cooldown, so I may or may not be able to use that to target something further away. Seriously, just bring it over to me. I'm built to take damage. Taking a little more won't make a huge difference to me, but it may kill you.

Hallowed Ground has a long-ass cooldown too. It is not spammable by any definition. If you're needing me to pop that for every pull in a speed run attempt, we either don't have the dps or the healing capability to actually speed run or you're too busy spamming Holy or DoTs to heal me. Either way, I'm going to make an executive decision to slow things down. The dungeon will take an extra five minutes, but it will be significantly less frustrating.

Yeah, pre-2.2 Cover was probably the best way to get yourself killed.

    - I always try and get the Summoners back up due to their inherent Swiftcast/Raise skills.
I've your SMN is competent enough to stay alive after you raise them it is indeed a good choice. Then pray that they will help you raise any others who are down.

Don't forget to Stoneskin/Adlo/Protect anyone you've raised, or you will see them go down to the next AoE.

As a Scholar I have something I'd like tanks to know:

Please either pull when you see the Galvanize buff up (ESPECIALLY if it's a crit), or wait until it falls off so I can re-apply it. I swear, every tank in the game conspires against me to wait until Galvanize has 2 seconds left before pulling.

Also, don't pull if you see me casting it. If you don't pay attention to such things, start doing so. As a Scholar, I ALWAYS Adlo the tank before a pull, and most of the time I end up getting hate because it lands the instant the tank pulls with tomahawk or shield lob.

Normally I'll start it then cancel it as the tank looks like he's running in but sometimes he hesitates, so I think he's waiting for Adlo, but then he charges in anyways. Ugh!

I'll just reinterate what my brothers and sisters have said.

    1. Please do NOT run when you have aggro. Tanks usually have to face mobs/bosses away from everyone for a reason. If I have to chase you down, I'm putting the party at risk from a directional AoE. Plus I could be messing up MNK Greased Lightning Stacks by truning the mobs and making the MNK miss their combo. Just stay calm, and run to the tank. You don't have to stand where the tank is, just be sure they can see you and the mob. Standing next to the boss works.

    2. For the 1st boss in Brayflox Hard, (and this applies to DPS as well) when the snipers target you, run to the tank and get their body to break the beam. Most Tank/Healer combos can have the tank absorb the extra hits. For the 2nd boss, the jet pack guys target people randomly. If I get aggro, he'll still attack the healer or DPS. Most of the time, I'm grouped with iLVL 90+ people. They kill the mob wayyy before I have a chance to get aggro, or they wreck the boss so fast, it's not worth me running down adds when the boss is dying in 3 seconds.

    3. Please do not regen during a pull. SCH, plz put your fairy on obey. Can't tell you how many times I'd lose aggro pulling the first group of mobs in Brayflox Hard because a healer casts regen either when I run off, or in the middle of a pull. Just don't do it. Wait till I gather everything together, then you can knock your self out healing. For SCH, I notice that the fairy gets aggro right away because she heals me as I'm gathering mobs. WHM hold off on Regen, SCH, put fairies on obey. If you regen me after I gather mobs then pull while I'm still regened, that's my fault. If that happens, call me out (or your tank). I admit, I get into road mode and pull as fast as possible, often forgetting to check for regen >.>\

    4. COMMUNICATE with your tank! And tanks communicate with healers! Makes a huge difference. I tell the healer exactly what I'm gonna do: "Popping HG at the top of the ramp". If you wait for a certain amount of HP% before using a spell, let's the tank know. If you spam heal me at 20%, let me know. If I see my HP way down like that, I'll start to press my panic buttons and end up wasting it because you wait till I'm almost dead to use a spell. Lemmie know that, and I'll pop a convalesce.

Bonus point: NEVER use Fluid Aura! I hate that spell with a passion. Use it for soloing. That messes with everyone's combo. "But it's good dmg!" No it's not, and you're taking dmg away from your party members by breaking their combos. Only if you are pro and KNOW that FA WILL kill the mob, then you can use it. That's my biggest pet peeve.
