Yeah, I don't watch vids, but then I prefer not to be told the mechanics too. If people blurt them out I won't complain because I know they mean the best and are making an effort to help, but I do prefer to be surprised by things and get enjoyment from learning on the go, even if there are some failures. Of course if somethings proving difficult on the first / second attempt, tips are welcome, and if I'm really frustrated and clueless I might decide to cheat and watch a vid before the next run. Yes "cheat" :P

I know this sounds selfish to some people but I'm not asking for any special consideration that I wouldn't give to any other player. I'd have no issue with meeting a new player in duty finder that fails repeatedly, and in fact it makes the encounter more fresh and fun. I think it's a much richer experience and more immersive experience when a character that's new to a dungeon would actually not know what to do immediately. I find the drone runs where everyone follows the script pretty dull, because I'm not a mindless loot hound, but someone who actually enjoys content for what it is, so I wouldn't ever encourage people to watch the vid first.

Ultimately though I respect that it's my opinion and I don't try to enforce it. If the group isn't happy with me being new, it's their choice to leave / kick / vote abandon or carry on, and I'll respect whatever choice is made. What I won't respect is people being rude or insulting based on my decision to queue as a new player.

It is because the ones that made those videos beat it a certain way doesn't mean that's the only way to beat it.

One way Square-Enix can combat it is by testing it themselves and releasing themselves the methods that work and who it is designed for instead.

Even if you did you'll still be criticized , chastised , and any form of negativity that ever been developed on this world if you wiped once for not doing your job. The overall mmo's communities have gotten impatient and worst where you should automatically know everything the other player knows.

You're making the assumption that PF parties fill up instantly. They do not. And on my server, often 1 wipe (even if we made reasonable progress) = entire party disbands.

I never said that. That's exactly why people do no want to use the PF. Well....sucks balls I guess lol.

A.) Go to DF expect random new people or people who do not know the run and explain...or don't explain, or just let them run wild and wipe and try again.

T4 I did many times solo, but T5 i practised on PF but I believe you can enter it solo on DF too.. I <3 you because you get where I come from, because you are rational and balmungian <3

Fortunately it took me about 5 weeks to finally form a static to down both T4 and T5. In every learning/practice PF that I have tried people would leave/disband etc. Once coil got added to duty finder for solo queing I tried to practice T5 but nobody even wanted to discuss strats inside. So I think the moral of the story is, people are gonna be jerks whether or not you watched a video/read a guide but at least if you did those 2, it can be easy to discuss the strat for newbies when entering.



Can you imagine walking into T5 and tank goes "ok guys for the dive bombs everyone run into that ditch there" - dive bombs come, the newbs have no idea what a dive bomb is or how it works and continue wiping. Guides/videos basically help give an "idea" of what the fight is about so even if you have new players they know the terminology to learn the fight. Obviously experience/practice is the best tool but by going in blindly for raid content/not knowing the terminology you're just being ignorant.



It's like if you were going to go a cake convention and you walk in there going "hay gaiz whats goin on? Anyone for some pickles?"

Of course you don't have to watch videos, or learn content, it's completely your choice - but then it's also the choice of those who you end up with whether or not they want to put up with your ignorance of not doing any research for end game raid content. Like I said earlier - the guy didn't have to be rude, he could have just said "welp I don't have time to teach newbies sorry" and just left the party. Also I never ever expect god tier people in DF lmao - I think everyone is missing that point. We don't expect pros in DF, but when someone is completely new to the mechanics its a waste of time just having to explain every single terminology/attack/debuff that goes on in the fight from scratch. It's obviously a gamble but sometimes DF queus can be faster so people take that gamble in the hopes they get 7 others like them who just want to clear content and have knowledge of the fight.

Thing about looking it up is that it doesn't give you the hands on experience oh how the fight happens. Some people need that to get accustom to the fights.

Phases sometimes happen faster or slower than what's on the video and if you mess up or people know that someone was a first timer they go bonkers with the insults or put everyone in a sour mood with, "omg we can do this with this group" and proceeds to drop from party.

The overall end game environment is getting worse not better. Only way to make it tolerable is by creating a static of people you'll have to deal with in a daily to weekly basis and even then sometimes people crack that farce after a couple of attempts and cause so much drama.

it's only the future for lazy people who don't want to actually put in the time to learn fights and just want to get carried by 7 others who did. If you're going to waste the time of 7 other people by being self-righteous and childish (people talking about not wanting to be 'spoiled'? Really?) then make friends who will learn the fights with you. Just because it's in DF doesn't mean you can only use DF.
