So just for sake of argument about your insanity idea. How would they even ban it if they wanted? Spy your whole PC which could utterly destroy them when found out?
Lots of good stuf in here mister ^^But again, I perhaps have high expectations expecting -both ends- to put in -any- effort.
And you're right - people DO want to get things done fast. That's the kind of environment SquarEnix and the players have created. This flawed system of Myth currently is the best example - by making it so that the final boss doesn't drop myth, they made it so people could -easily- speed run. And no matter what they do, people -will- find a way to speed run.
I think the opo opo minion's a step in the right direction, though. Putting rewards behind the final boss is great.
Even still, my reaction in fights can only be improved by reading and watching something.
Yup, having high expectations is a bane and boon. SE created the Environment so those who can get around and saving minutes will do it. Flawed system -I completely agree.
opo-opo as well - if only all drops were like this, no more complaints. except having to run 1000 times the same dungeon, then SR will kick in again
The only point here I digress is 'can only be improved by' - if weight of the land is there, it's your own reaction (minus the lag/latency, mind you) and not the video or strat that will have dodge it for you.
You know it will come, for you have seen it in the vid, but what if bec of echo DPS will jump the phase, and it will appear in 2:13 sec instead of 2:19.. are you telling me you'll be done for? I am sure not.
Expect the unexpected, continue to be nice and give tips, and you shall get your win, DF or PF or whatever ^^

Yeah, I don't watch vids, but then I prefer not to be told the mechanics too. If people blurt them out I won't complain because I know they mean the best and are making an effort to help, but I do prefer to be surprised by things and get enjoyment from learning on the go, even if there are some failures. Of course if somethings proving difficult on the first / second attempt, tips are welcome, and if I'm really frustrated and clueless I might decide to cheat and watch a vid before the next run. Yes "cheat" :P
I know this sounds selfish to some people but I'm not asking for any special consideration that I wouldn't give to any other player. I'd have no issue with meeting a new player in duty finder that fails repeatedly, and in fact it makes the encounter more fresh and fun. I think it's a much richer experience and more immersive experience when a character that's new to a dungeon would actually not know what to do immediately. I find the drone runs where everyone follows the script pretty dull, because I'm not a mindless loot hound, but someone who actually enjoys content for what it is, so I wouldn't ever encourage people to watch the vid first.
Ultimately though I respect that it's my opinion and I don't try to enforce it. If the group isn't happy with me being new, it's their choice to leave / kick / vote abandon or carry on, and I'll respect whatever choice is made. What I won't respect is people being rude or insulting based on my decision to queue as a new player.

Amen.I'm with the OP on this...and I can't believe the amount of negativity and elitism here! Are you guys serious!? People should not be chastised for asking for a little advice. Period. This is an mmo. A place where we should help one another out. everyone has different experiences, so you can't expect everyone to know the mechanics of the fight right away. I don't care if it's PF, DF, whatever. It shouldn't be a REQUIREMENT to go to a website/youtube/whatever and study the mechanics before a fight.
This is the kind of crap that dulls out MMO's for me. (and I'm sure a lot of other people...but I know I don't speak for everyone) I guess I should just be grateful I hardly need to use DF/PF thanks to my FC. But wow people....just wow.
On a side note, Love your character name! ^^
I guess you knew it was coming right? hehehe
You're making the assumption that PF parties fill up instantly. They do not. And on my server, often 1 wipe (even if we made reasonable progress) = entire party disbands.
I'm not saying "don't make mistakes" but people come into DF assuming at least people have a basic idea for END GAME content. Again this only applies to coil/extreme primals.
If I walked into Castrum or Titan Hard Mode and 1 guy said "hi im new" I'd be like ok whatever I'm overgeared and can just carry you so it doesn't matter. I think the complaint here is "people wanna clear end game content, PF doesn't always work out, so they try DF and they get this".
Inversely I can tell you the same thing "why are you going into DF to be a landmine for 7 others? you could have made your own PT for newbs to learn and practice the content"
I have zero expectations when it comes to the DF however this is raid content.
Even if it is 'last seasons' content it is still raid content and yes you should do some research before hand and not walk in blind.
Welcome to MMO's in the last five or so years. Honestly if this is the thing you're going to complain about its high time you left the genre.
Put in the time and effort to know and understand the fight you're going into and save the other seven people the headache of having to be the youtube video for you. the days of trying without knowing are long dead unless you're the world / server first types who go in and set up the videos in the first place.
It's not just this, but -every- mmo that will essentially require this. The only other option you have is to set up a partyfinder and let people know that it's your intention to go in blind. You may even get a few to join. Seriously though, I have zero compassion for this whine. Adapt to the genre or fall out of it.
Heya Assirra! ^^
There is a slim line between insanity and genius some says
(I hope I won't reach my amount of post for the day >.<)
Something along the small characters when you sign an agreement, that you would accept that the game will make sure to log any parser/vid/blablabla
By no means destroying anything lol (who's insane now?) - but like gil sellers or harassment, perma ban.
You pay the game - you play their rules, or don't play. Simple.
*this 'know before you know' is what's hilarious.
Play the game, with others - others means: not like you. don't expect anyone beside yourself to be.. you.
Even if you did you'll still be criticized , chastised , and any form of negativity that ever been developed on this world if you wiped once for not doing your job. The overall mmo's communities have gotten impatient and worst where you should automatically know everything the other player knows.
This is the future of online gaming everybody
