What's with the new players today?

Actually, you say they're new players, but those first five? They're probably bots in those low level dungeons. You're describing almost exactly what the bots do: they run into groups of mobs and do mechanically identical things every single time and do not chat. You can even mess them up sometimes by dragging a mob they're fighting around the dungeon. They just happily follow it.

I had a tank recently that didn't have much gear equipped. In fact, he didn't have a chestpiece equipped at all. It seemed like that was mostly an RP related thing, based on the way the character looked. He pretty much never AoE'd, so I was tanking (as healer) pretty much every pull. It was just Toto-Rak though, so whatever on that. I can heal it with either myself or DPS tanking. What I couldn't heal though was the final boss with adds on me and the tank taking so much dmg per hit (1/3 of max hp) . That's a bit much. We did clear it though on the third try... but ugh, these groups. I'm 100% looking forward to pre-made Duty Roulette.

Faris, #3 and #4 sound like they might be the RMT tank bot programs I've read about (and seen a couple times, but I'm usually on my PLD when running low level roulettes). But it can be hard to tell the difference between a bot and merely a really really bad player.

EDIT: agree with Rhindas. 1-5 are all suspiciously bot-like.

echo buff + easy overworld + gears handed out to you + FATE + df= Bad players breeding grounds.

Of course people won't learn how to play. Do you need to be a good player to move into the game world? No, nothing is dangerous. Do you need to be a good player to get good gears? No, just do roulette all day, every day. Do you need to be a good player to complete dungeons? No, just spam DF until a party can carry you. Now with echo you can even cheese Coil!

The CoD reference was that, since you don't play I'll enlighten you, it's full of immature, trash-talking prepubescent kids who throw insults and 'your momma' etc crap all day long, but they also have their own private witch hunts for anyone who makes the slightest mistake. They don't learn, they have the mentality, which some people in XIV do as well (hence the reference) that they are and were always perfect gamers, never failed - or if they fail it's certainly not Their fault, and so begin the insults and backlashing that's so commonplace these days. So the CoD reference was not as a direct correlation of those players coming to XIV, because I seriously doubt many FPS players can even stomach MMOs, it's not to their pace, it's the mentality and immaturity that's become such an epidemic in the game currently.

I'm not trying to directly target console players but I and several of my fc members have noticed that the influx of new players since ps4 launch are a special kind of bad.

I had a tank in halatali that was straight up single targetin packs and the rest would auto Zerg the healer. I told him he needed to flash at the beginning and rotate through the mobs with his combo. He listened, kinda, he then pulls the next pack flashes once and stands there..... Loses them all and kills us. Then he says " flash is worthless" our healer says " no you are worthless" and leaves lol. I tried to coach him through the rest but at the boss with the floor being poison and the lightening he just kept standing in the poison and dieing. Finally moved up but healer was down and we kept wiping I had to bounce b4 I raged.

It happened EXACTLY as I said it would.

Just as I said the same thing back when TERA was having its beta a few years ago, and they were talking about a matchmaking system for dungeon parties. They did it anyway, and happened as I foretold. Now the same happens here.

EVERY NEW MMO has that discussion at some point in its development. EVERY TIME the people who try to warn against it are the doomsayers, the negativists, the people who can't see the big picture. EVERY TIME they end up implementing it. and EVERY TIME it becomes a hellhole of bad attitude.

I should be tired of this discussion. But it still amazes me how people can make the same mistakes over and over again...

This happens regardless if it's DF or not. People will be people, there will always be good eggs and bad eggs. There's nothing anyone can do to change that.

In tam Tara I go in for a animus book. I'm well aware I'm massively over geared so I turn it down a bit. This tank I'm with keeps hitting things with coke right off the bat. I tell him " I don't think coke does what you think it does". He replies "builds hate" I say kindof but it doesn't just stack hate like you think. It's more of a oh sh**! Button if you lose hate. Watch" next target I tell him to voke. I spear chuck and take it off. I then Do as much as possible and get about half a bar ahead in hate and tell him to voke again. He does and takes the mob back. My feeling of pride in executing a decent lesson is quickly smashed when he says " it's know I talks like you that ruin online gaming for people" and leaves..... For real!? Your proven wrong but now know something you didn't and you get mad about it? /facepalm
