I would also like to say, anyone threatening or getting mad that you are watching a cutscene is dumb.
But I have actually had people get mad for us not waiting for them as well.
In short if you get mad u is dumb. lol

Interesting. Still would be concerned that people would just leave though, and not bother with those runs anymore. Unless a further incentive was added for clearing with scenes perhaps. But I would still see people getting annoyed with the fact someone didn't skip and directing abuse at "whoever didn't". I really think it's not going to work to make people play in a way they hate, whether watching scenes or skipping scenes. Both need to be catered for separately.

True dat! And even better with an incentive to hit both options rather than just no cut-scenes only. The incentive shouldn't be progress based like tomes though, becuase you'll get people abusing it, but instead based on status or vanity.

Agreed, but the dev's are not likely to rework all the content now. And while this tackles cutscenes, it doesn't tackle those wanting to skip mobs / speedrun, against those wanting to play the "normal" way.Yeah. I think, good game design would be to have a cutscene start when you register for the Duty Finder, then during the run have only in game story telling which is way more immersive than cutscenes which tell a completely different story than you were experiencing (you run to a room, in the CS you walk slowly into it). Then have a cutscene at the end, when you can watch them without problems.

Sounds like a good idea to group like-minded people, but my problem is, that I like to help newbies, but not necessarily by waiting through cutscenes (though I never would demand them to skip). Like I wrote before, I think playing the opening cutscene when you register for a duty, then have no cutscenes, but more immersive story telling in game during the run, and then have a final cutscene where it doesn't matter might be a better solution.

I'm sure they can give people something to do while they wait for the newbies to watch the cutscenes.Sounds like a good idea to group like-minded people, but my problem is, that I like to help newbies, but not necessarily by waiting through cutscenes (though I never would demand them to skip). There could be a timer and a chance for them to do some crafting. Who knows. Square Enix are clever, they'll figure it out.
But yeah, lets hope for live action cutscenes when their new MMO comes out in 15 years. :P

I watch the storyline stuff in my inn most of the time, but I just wanted to add that there has to be a limit on how many times you want to watch the CS. 10, 50, 100 times? The vets that are fighting with you are preventing you from queuing up for 60 minutes + to get a party. You can always get friends to run it and use PF with the watch cutscenes option. There is really no happy middle ground.
The option to watch and not watch cut-scenes is not a good one when we look at it carefully.
If you give people the option to watch cut-scenes or not, parties that want to watch cut-scenes will slowly fill up resulting something similar to what happened early on in this game, people waiting forever for groups to progress and this is mainly because these old runs were not very efficient for farming. The only reason Veteran players join old dungeons/daily roulettes now is because the bonus reward earned, in its optimal time frame, is highly efficient. This is how SE solved the issue of not enough players supporting new players in progressive content. The veteran players will NOT join groups watching cut-scenes because the extra invested time now makes these dungeons no longer efficient even with the bonus, this is why people stop doing older dungeons to begin with simply because they were too long and had too little gain. Not only will this affect 8 man parties, this will affect all dungeons down to the lowest levels if this idea is implemented.
So, No to the option of watching cut-scenes and not watching cut-scenes.
What SE could do is make it so you are playing out the scene itself like when cid follows you thru one of the 8 man dungeons as you clear trash rather than bring everyone to a halt to watch a cut-scene. This way no one stops and everyone continues forward while the story itself is unraveling at the same time. This is a much better solution.

What you're suggesting is making the cutscenes live action but they're not going to rebuild the game to do that. What SE could do is make it so you are playing out the scene itself like when cid follows you thru one of the 8 man dungeons as you clear trash rather than bring everyone to a halt to watch a cut-scene. Of course it would have been far more efficient and they should have predicted the issue cutscenes would have had long ago.

They do it because they're selfish and immature.
It's no excuse, but that is the reality. I hope you reported all of them for harassment at least three times.
They have no right to berate you for enjoying the cs in story dungeons. They should get it through their thick skulls that their selfish behavior is only hurting this community.
Also, if they have no intention of letting players- new and old- enjoy cs then they shouldn't queue up for Main Scenario DR.
If they're after tomes then they should sr Brayflox HM.
When I cleared storyline, I made sure to go with people who wouldn't do that to me.
It meant that I went at a slower pace but it also meant that I got to enjoy the storyline.
If it happens again, report them and just go at your own pace.
I'm sorry that this happened to you OP. =\
