I really think SE should simply have required everyone using Roulette to watch the cutscenes, and they lose out on their Roulette rewards if they don't.
And who'd run CM or Praetorium, if they had to watch every cutscene? No one, at least not for 60 tomes. The implementation of cutscenes in CM and Praetorium is really bad, and imo not immersive at all. They feel completely unrelated to the gameplay.

If someone in a group wants to watch the cutscenes, I won't complain / say anything and let them do so, but tbh, I prefer people to skip them. I gladly help newcomers, explain tactics and don't mind a wipe if they are trying, that feels less of a waste of time than waiting through the same (mostly boring) cutscenes over and over again.

This is why it should be an option to turn on and off. I think forcing everyone to watch the cutscenes is not at all a good solution. It would cause more upset in the long run.
Square Enix have gone down the right route with the party finder but it has not been implemented well.

    Quick answer, people are jerks.
Players taht are in it for a speed run, good for you.
Some players are new and it urks me when i help them with endgame story and the other randoms just rush and such.
Perhaps the roulette needs to be changed to possibly solve this issue? Probably not but relax people just let players enjoy the game, sheesh.
Myself a large portion of the game i have had to skip cs because of this and it does take away from the experience "watching it at the inn" afterwords

Please check out my post earlier in the thread which responds to this. Link to the developer Live letter on the topic is included.

Let me ask you this, when you run the dungeons again are you going to watch the cutscenes again?

I doubt you would. And to expect anyone else to wait 15min standing around is ridiculous.
Accept the fact that it is bad game design, and go watch it in the inn. Anyone who thinks they are entitled to holding up a group for 15 min just so they can watch something is ridiculous.

That is literally like saying hey guys i know we started this dungeon but i need to make a sandwich can you hold on for 15 min.

And "its how the game was intended to be" yeah so what? It's a bad design. Stop being self centered assholes. 1 person watching a cutscene vs 7 people not, majority wins out.

Yeah. I think, good game design would be to have a cutscene start when you register for the Duty Finder, then during the run have only in game story telling which is way more immersive than cutscenes which tell a completely different story than you were experiencing (you run to a room, in the CS you walk slowly into it). Then have a cutscene at the end, when you can watch them without problems.

I don't mind if others watch cutscenes. I skipped cutscenes on my first go but I don't expect others to do so, too. Even when I was farming for tomes in Main Story DR i didn't care as long as we got it done. Hell, the cutscenes watchers are not even the problem when I did DR. It was bad players, DCing, or some other nonsense.

I can still remember doing the Praetorium were one person watch the cutscenes, another AFK for four minutes and was asked to stop in the middle of the last fight to let the person finish watching the cutscene and we still finished with enough time. No one complained and I'm sure most of them were there for the tomes.

And people need to stop tossing "consideration" around. Because it goes both ways. You need to be consideration and mindful that you are queuing up for a STORY heavy dungeon and asking NEW players to skip cutscenes. If you don't like that then do High Level DR or just let the newbies watch the cutscenes. Because I'm sure if it was the other way around you wouldn't like it much ether.

Totally agree! Party finder is the answer, but devs need to advertise it more, like when you open duty finder, you can see which duties have a related party finder group. Or let players get party finder notifications based on their specific preferences, rather than just "7 parties are recruiting2 which the new player will not bother to check because there's a 1 / 1000 chance it'll be story mode praetorium.

Ultimately though, us cutscene watchers have to accept something - Players don't HAVE to support us, and should not be forced to. It's real nice if they do, but it can only be off their own desire to be helpful to work. We have to accept that even if every casual / friendly / new player is using party finder effectively to form their first run, we would still be waiting for some time for a group. Duty finder being used for speedruns is not a crime. If this wasn't happening, not only would it be hard to get a story run of the last missions, but hard to get any run at all whether you want to watch the scenes or just clear the content and move on.

But... I'm wondering if another incentive could work. Say if you could request a supportive group by clicking a checkbox. Then another play can select mentor / supportive player checkbox. These players would be grouped together and the mentor would receive a reward that is NOT useful for progression (i.e. NOT tomes, usefull gear, gil). It would be a status or vanity based reward, for the mentor player to enjoy and be proud of, but not something that players would feel bother about abusing the system for. If players could even have a badge on their examine window showing how many runs they mentored, with no other benefit, I can see many would be attracted to genuinely helping out new players effectively over and over.
