Why do new players receive death threats for enjoying the story?

I am sure you have been upset in a video game due to losing something you cared about, perhaps dying too many times or losing loot/money.
Everyone cares about different things and different things effect different people, for me it is storyline. Check the Reddit link I posted, there are many others who feel as I do.
Age and maturity has nothing to do with this. Some play games for PvP, some for RP, some for PvE. It's just how people work.

I'm pretty sure thats not WHY he is asking.
