It's to the point now in Brayflox no one even bothers with the colobri chest, an extra minute at most for a chance at a rare minion. This is one of the flaws of making these dungeons point based, no one ever stops to smell the roses.
Sounds like an MMO is a perfectly fine game for him, and me. What we need to do: look for like-minded people, forget the elitists, and, as you said in which I totally agree with you, I kill the colibris and I smell the roses.

There is a huge gap between doing a dungeon, and a trial. Once your party clears the trial, its simple and repetitive, nothing to gain there. Lost City of Amdapor is beautiful, you beat monsters, heck I will let newcomers to open chests and get a nice 'surprise' heheheh

I'm at Titan EX, bec so far i didn't find the rest of the group that matches his memory patterns. It will come. then Ifrit, Levi, King Moogle.

Same with Coil: we just beaten T4 yesterday as FC: it was AWESOME, to say the least, felt really good. so T5 up to T9, then wait for new content.

Some will watch vids or reddit, somes not. They know being with me its a : slow and steady wins the race. I play games to 'stress' a little, getting some excitement, chatting with FC, LS, Shouts, crafting, a bit of everything that an MMO could offer.

SE put time limits on everything: if you have 60 mins to do something, and you complete it within 15, kudos to you. but if you fail, you still have 45 mins left.

if you are playing and you only got 15 min to spend in the game, dont get into a dungeon with DF. Make your own speed run with your FC, LS, PF, and let's each other have fun the way we want it, with or without watching a vid.

Role-playing is not my thing: some do like it. They are RPing near you and you dont like it? Don't spoil their fun, Eorzea is big enough (not really ^^) for us to move into another spot.

Grats on iLvl95, i'll be iLVl94-95 tonight. (and I still need 6 Tomes for my Curtana Animus.)

The fun is what people miss in MMOs.

You have fun speed running? Fine, we just wont group together; i won't bash you, you do the same.

Long Live FFXIV and.. the community lol

**I have an old mate from my first FC on Gilgamesh that he's 1% top of Elitist. I would love to play with him, in order to better my game. I chose not, so I won't drag him down, unless he has free time and willing to give a hand. We still have fun chatting ^^

You don't need to be in high level dungeons to find elitist jerks trying to force you to speedrun. Although they come in all types, the overgeared level synced BLMs seem to have the biggest attitudes of them all. I had more than one of them jump the gun on you to pull aggro even while you are marking the mobs. And then they tell you flash more, like that is going to help. They are basically like the tail gating !@#% on the freeway. They even vote kicked me because I asked them not to pull before I do. And heck this was just toto-rak.

I joined right back and asked who is going to do tank duty, and BLM claimed he was doing a better job. So I just made the BLM tank the rest of the dungeon because he wanted to be such hot stuff. I switched to healing, usually healing the healer, but since the BLM was going to tank I was not going to draw aggro. But he was too chicken to tank the final boss.

We then got stuck on t4 for like 4-5 weeks and people got discouraged but we kept tweaking our strat and managed to beat it. Same with turn five. Now we've cleared t6 and are working on our t7 strat. I hope you find a group to continue to enjoy this game.
    +1 to that comment ^^

...you mean like running Amdapor Keep or Ruins of Ampador?

That tank is not undergeared, you're overgeared. If you want to put out l33t DPS without slowing down, you'll have to deal with stealing some hate now and then. Nothing in those dungeons should be able to kill you. Besides, I would say it would help to pull some eyes off the tank in Ruins of Amdapor just to lessen the heat they're taking.

However, I'd encourage reporting too for things like insults, harassment, rudeness.
Unclear about speedruns (I'm going to go out on a limb and say "no"), but you most definitely CANNOT kick people for watching cutscenes.

I want to see you run EX + Coil, or heck, even CT with DPS that don't know dungeon mechanics. Curious how far you'd get.

I was in a group where neither the tank or healer (me) were over geared.
There was a BLM in the group and instead of just trying to run the zone as he would normally would he actually took time to sleep adds and help the situation.
95% of the time a BLM would only have made it worse by aoeing everything, grabbing agro, dieing, and then bitch about the tank not holding agro and the healer sucks because he died.

The first was a good, old school, mmo player.
The second was a one dimensional player who thinks he is good but actually sucks because he can't switch gears depending on the situation.

But... You really should take a few minutes to watch a video so you understand the mechanics. That 10 minutes will save you hours.

I like C =D I went into Levi EX for the first time recently, Skrewed up once, Noone was the wiser that i was a totes newb o.o

Most fights arent so badyou cant just follow the group, attack what other DPS are attacking, or if you're a tank, Most of the time you can just face it away from the group and dodge the things, and you'll be good.

I watched a video for Hydra. The people that did the vid knew what they were doing and made it look easy. But the reality was that when I did the fight, several people were new and we wiped a lot. So now I don't bother with videos because I learn better by doing the fights. I just join learning parties for new content or content I haven't done. So far I haven't had many issues.

The whole idea that, when you are using the duty finder or duty roulette, that everyone must know what to do and that they speedrun is completely unreasonable. If you want your party a specific way, use the party finder. That is why party finder has rules and filters to impose what you want.

Players can be anything from total noobs, casual, to hardcore vets, from crap gear to overgeared. And they may or may not have seen the videos. And they should NOT be required to do so. What is needed for the run to be successful is that the players with better gear and more experience help those who are not. That is all there is to it.

It is one thing to kick those verbally harassing others, or AFK (unintentional or otherwise a.k.a leachers), but kicking the noobs is just plain wrong and that is vote abuse. If they can not speed run, then that is luck of the draw, and play the hand as best as you can. Doing your best in this case means helping them do their best and you will still be faster than kicking them or harassing them.

If it means wiping 10 times, then wipe 10 times. There are times when I can't wipe anymore, then I just vote abandon and/or just leave. But it is fun when you can help first-timers clear a dungeon or trial with a few wipes as possible.
