Just to clarify further, I have never queued for a high level dungeon or primal without the majority of a pre formed part. So I never waste 7 people's time. At most, 3. I usually always have both healers and tanks. So it's not that I'm completely selfish. And those that were not in our party for queue, we always give the option to leave.....

Not to be an a-hole, but just as you have the right to play the game how you want, other people have the right to play the game how they want. If you want to go blind in a dungeon / fight, you should find 3/7 other people that think like you. But then again, watching videos can't take you too far since you need to exp the fight for yourself too. Just create a learning party in PF, there are new people everytime that would like to join a learning party instead of a "1 strike rule" party.

This is obviously a topic that has a great divide. Good to know, don't worry, I will no longer pick up anyone for high level content, and run it with friends only.

Was interested to see what peoples thoughts on this were. Seems to be a pretty even split.

As a new player I am really confused about this issue because when you chose to play with RPs(Pugs) you don't get to chose who you party with by definition.

If you need a party with no-Aholes or a speed-run just make it clear up front and then their choice becomes simple.

Regardless of majority or not, you're basically telling one of them to eat the penalty.

Really, the only fights that you should watch videos for prior are Coil Turns 5+, and the Extreme Primals. Everything before those have few enough mechanics that they can be explained by party members and have enough leeway that if one person screws up its not necessarily going to wipe the party.

T5+ and Extreme Primals however all have fairly steep learning curves. They generally have multiple phases, each with unique positioning requirements or tasks that must be performed and various special abilities that must be watched out for, as well as an abundance of 1-shot mechanics and dps checks. Garuda X has about 4 phases, Turn 5 has about 5. That is too much information to hastily type to someone while the group is buffing up prior to a pull, and even if its all typed out, and there is no way the new player will be able to remember all of it. The only alternative then is to wipe repeatedly to try to explain the fight in parts. This takes a lot of time, for some players it takes more than the time limit, and sitting through countless wipes for 1 person is not a commitment people want to make very often, Its also the reason the extreme mode primal duty finder queues are empty and most PF groups are xp only.

Unfortunately leveling up is a much better gaming experience than being max level. There's room to learn.
At max level, the game is designed around grinding. Very few people enjoy failure, learning, or challenge; they just want to grind.

To have fun at max level, stand your ground. Don't speedrun if you don't want. Don't let people rage at you others. Kick or leave the party if you can't get it under control.
People rage if you don't know mechanics. If you want to learn, don't admit you're new, let them rage, learn what you can, and then try again in the next DF.
The community is so toxic that it's not worth being honest with people in DF; people will rage or autoquit. Don't listen to them. Read up on mechanics when you get stuck.

It won't be long before you know the mechanics and are doing countless runs because people can't dodge. So it's not a big deal if you spend 2/100 tries learning things on your own.

That's because those are the people who take this game too seriously. If someone doesn't know the fight and keeps dying then so what? No need to whine and complain, its just a videogame. Not everybody lives and studies every dungeon and boss in the game. Believe it or not most people have an actual life to worry about so take the stick out of your ass so called "elitists"

i have stopped watching you tube or bs guides that some one else made every one learns differently. what works for one wont work for another. as far as guides goes well it worked for one person hardly works for you. heck i tried it i failed i even tried mnk set up but it was bad so i mad mine up by reading the icons skills and i use my rotation for either quick dps or long term depending what i am doing for example i use fist of wind + demolish why because i use fast combo's but cant use that tactic in titan i keep getting the most hate and kept getting goeld way to many time's and not something one would want as a dps its not about what i do it works for me but not for the next guy. se has made it where we no longer need thoes ffx1 youtubs/wiki to get crap done

really depends on the fight you're going into.
Is it just one of the new dungeons like lost city/hala hm/bray hm?
NO VIDEO NEEDED, just ignore them

are you going into coil for your first time? or the EX fights?
probably wanna watch a video or at least ask people before you enter
