The result is you end up with these great single-player FPS franchises with fantastic stories getting ruined because the status quo today is "We can't release an FPS without multiplayer!" And this has spilled over to MMORPG's. "We can't release an MMO without PvP!" Because of this, the PvE content ends up being lackluster.
So because modern FPS are awful or you had a bad experience with Aion you think FFXIV should have no PvP? That's just silly. PvE should always come first in an MMO, but that doesn't mean they should leave out the PvP experience. I am not suggesting that PvP should be the prime aspect of FFXIV like it is in some western/korean MMOs, but it should be available and the devs should put a good amount of effort into making it balanced, fun, and enjoyable (unlike the way they stopped caring in FFXI after brenner was released).

By the way, the first Halo had multiplayer, and it was fun. Half-life had multiplayer and it was also very fun. Honestly, what's your point?
