Damn. That sucks, dude.My character name is a female name. My character is female. Yet I still get people calling me "he" in chat every time.
Not only is the assumption that I apparently "must" be a guy rather insulting, but it's also kind of a painful one. I'm a trans woman. Being called "he" really hurts, and playing a female character with a female name should be sufficient to get gendered as female. And if people aren't sure they could at least ask.
Pretty much the only thing I could do about this beyond what I have already is start off every party with, "By the way, I'm a girl." Not only does it feel obnoxious and tedious to have to do, but I'm well aware of how many in the gaming community react to someone being visibly female.
But overall? If you can't be bothered to ask, please just gender based on avatar. It's far simpler and less insulting than assuming every player is a guy.
I can't believe there are still people making 'there are no girls on the internet' comments. That joke is a decade out of date.
That aside, I sympathise with the OP, but this thread was never going to end well. There isn't a MMO community in the world where the majority of people would care about something like this, rather than just going 'not my problem idc stop whining lol'.
...I think you know exactly what you did there, and I hope you know that it does not make you a good person.
There are a lot of really great folks who play FFXIV, so I was more hopeful here than I would be elsewhere.I can't believe there are still people making 'there are no girls on the internet' comments. That joke is a decade out of date.

The bird of Hermes is my name eating my wings to make me tame.
hey pick your poison XDD
atma whine threads for days or something new out the box that somehow deems worthy of 43 pages
over a very mediocre problem.
i pick the latter because it's a fun read as all we're doing is parroting the same stuff thats been said
42 pages ago then branches off to lord knows what. just get some popcorn, soda and recline and watch the drama happen.
great day to bee off work, all i can tell ya lol. im enjoying this now like u haha.

I don't buy it. If no one cared, this topic would have died after a couple posts.
When I don't care about something, I simply just move right along. Not sit, read a couple of comments, and then make an argument of my own.
some did till she got a hissy fit and that has nothing to do what i said, what i said was towards her. not the posters...
as in she shouldnt care what ppl call her.

Why is making fun of someone who is transgender funny?
And I don't get how you all aren't running into female gamers. I always run into other girls. Just yesterday I had 2 all female DF parties. We all confirmed we were girls. Someone might have lied but I will never know. Still a girl. There are a lot of guys but there is a good number of girls floating around. Maybe the reason you think you are running into guys all the time is because you are assuming every pixel body in front of you has a male behind them?
