    If the Plan to:

-replacing old content with new dungeons/raids/quest (Western sytle concept of expansions)
    or
-incorporating old content to keep all content in the game worthwhile (XIs method of expansions)

If it is the first one... I hope people like the game now because the way SE released every mmo and every mmo expansion has been like this. Absolutely nothing in it besides zones and barebone quest/missions with everything else being fleshed out over the next 2yrs period of time.

And even with a level increase are you going to continue to spam old dungeons knowing that in a few months all your time is wasted? You will have the same crap you have in WoW atm. Everyone is crazy active at an expansion/content update... then everyone stops logging on once they do everything. If anyone thinks that is good something is wrong with them.

Square needs to insure me that they will not screw the game over everyupdate. I want more content then I can handle...not some BS that I can finish in a week then take a break for 6 months.

Atm this game seems to be going more and more in the direction of the worst WoW clone ever created... I sure hope these content updates are some kind of godly content... if they want to butt heads with WoW, Rift, and GW2 they need to not match them but beat them... good luck if they are on that path.
What you want is the FFXI endgame pre abyssea which was arguably the worst MMO endgame around.
You do realize that FFXI endgame excluded like 90% of the server population dont you?
Sure it was fun when you had an endgame linkshell but if you were on the other side of the fence you got completely screwed. All most people had to do for 6 years was limbus, dynamis, exp. Not to mention how HNM system for the longest time had nothing to do with skill but bots. This is why WOW has more players, content is about including everyone not about excluding people like FFXI was. That is why endgame player playtimes in XI were 6 years vs normal player few months.
Not to even mention that MMO players have tons of MMOs to chose from and they not going to stick around hoping to get in a endgame shell and than be in that shell for 6 months and than hope for an item to drop like e body that maybe dropped once a week under right conditions (no server maintenance etc etc).

Yes they should release content all the time that will get you gear that will outdate old gear. It's the only way to progress.
The trick is to make the content relevant and fun. It should be about journey to the level cap and content along the way that makes you improve. Not grind to the cap and than fighting it out for a piece of gear that you hope wont be outdated for 6 years and drops of 1 mob that 800 people camp.

If you belive this cichy you never played FFXI.

about 10% of the game required a Hardcore group. That was the World HNMS. To an extent Sea and Sky when they where heavily camped nms.

WoE (8 zones), Assualt (100 of them), Salvage (4 zones with 3 paths each), Dynamis (9 zones), Einherjar (10 zones), Limbus (12 zones), Znms (3 paths with 3 tiers in each ending with a main boss), The many mini games(choco racing, pet fights, ballista, brener), Campaign (defense battles and quest related around 100), Besighed (1 thing here), Bcnms(around 60), KSnms(around 30), Isnms(About 20), Enms (around 30), Vnms(Around 20, tiered as well), Missions(around 100) all of these where without the competition and all of these except city and northland dynamis where casual in time requirement.

I am sorry but atm there is no MMO out there that has the variety that XI had, too many people focus on the smallest part of XIs endgame which was crazy hardcore.

WoW has one of the worst endgames out there, it is just the fact so few people realize it because that is what they where first exposed to and every mmo after WoW has copied it.

WoW's endgame is a few raids, a few dungeons, and PvP.

You're comparing content that's there "just 'cause" and are offshoots of the mission storylines (hence why they could afford to be so timesinky about it) with endgame content tied to a storyline, and more often than not the focal point of the story.

Let us please not open that can of worms.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
    * Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

Which one? You mean the can of worms that is, "WoW is just Diablo II with more players and a subscription fee"? Or the "By not supporting past content and areas outside the latest expansion, WoW is as much an MMORPG as Sonic the Hedgehog" can? Or the can of "The definition of an MMORPG is an online persistent world shared by many players who advance their characters through RPG mechanics, but because WoW sacrifices the majority of its world to obsolescence through a constant churn of expansions and level caps it has severely bastardized the genre it was born from" worms?

Just trying to make sure I don't open the wrong can here.

My name is a killing word.
(Seriously: "Caerith" was a forbidden name when I signed up on the forums.)

Eorzea should be a world, not a lobby.
