ATMA.... again

I'm hating atma so much, I can't even stand it. Let alone I have to pull a miracle out of my arse to find the people willing to farm myth at a decent rate for animus. I've spent more time on ONE map in atma than my FC member has on their entire quest. I'm at 653 Fates completed. I spent around 15 hours on Western thanalan alone. Upper and outer la noscea have been DAYS and DAYS without anything to show for it. And you wanna sit there and tell me I should feel bad about getting pissed when there are countless people just running in and doing a handfull of fates and getting them instantly?

I thought we had levi ex and the 2nd coil to give us a challenge and a better weapon as well. Why do we need to make everything in this game a challenge? I agree we need challenges but every time I login I don't think the game should be nothing but a list of challenges. I like the variety of content and the way it is being handled. If you want something with more challenge go do coil or levi ex. The animus quest line was intended to be casual but long and drawn out. That is how it was advertised. I am not surprised and do not see any reason to go on griping about it or changing it's difficulty level. There are challenges in this game and everything we do doesn't have to be one of them.

Stop using the word "entitlement" to mean "stuff other people want that I don't think they should have even though I haven't thought through the problem".

Not everyone who subs to FFXIV wants the game to be a luck grind. It's reasonable for people to say, "Hmm, relic reborn required very little grind and some reasonably difficult fights. Zenith was too easy and required a minor grind and not much challenge. Why does atma require so much grind and luck and have no challenge? It seems like the relic quests are becoming grindy rng garbage. Also, I used to be able to keep several relic weapons up to date, and now I can only stand doing maybe one or two because atma is so boring."

I like atma for the simple reason that I work 40-50 hours a week. I don't doubt my skill however I can't rely on others in party finder/duty finder to do titan ex therefore I haven't been able to get to levi ex to get a high level weapon. I also can't commit myself to an FC because most that are at the level of farming ex primals need a committed schedule which I cannot promise because I have real life commitments that come first.

I have however got an hour every night where I can farm atmas, and although it may take me a couple of weeks to get an atma weapon, I'm not left behind. If the people complaining want to be so good and awe-inspiring then they should work for what they want. There is nothing worse in gaming than not being able to play one of your favourite games simply because you were left behind, especially given that the reason you were left behind was because you couldn't devote your life to that game!

I don't buy these arguments. It implies those completing that content do not have commitments. Some of us are just better at scheduling than others. I know when I am available and I find others who are available at the same times. If people with real life commitments want to do something, they find time to do it. "I'm not busy Tues and Fri between 6 and 10, so I'll see who I can find available in that time frame." I don't know what's hard about that. I guess people in part time employment don't have regular schedules, but you still usually know yours a bit ahead of time. You'd be surprised how malleable some people can be with that, especially when you're an asset to the group.

Well I for one cannot be free every single Tuesday night for example. One week I may be free, the other I may not. I'm not just talking about work, I'm talking about my fiancée and friends etc. If mates call up and say "do you wanna come out" I'm not gonna turn around and say sorry guys I can't because I want to get a piece of virtual eye candy that will become obsolete in 6-12 months. I'd rather spend that crucial time with real friends than sat inside playing a game. Same goes with my wife-to-be.

Of course I can make some evenings, but the same day every week? I can't promise that and unfortunately most "hardcore" FC's need that stability. If you can set aside that time then great for you, honestly, but I really can't so for me it's not a case of an argument, I really do like the idea of atmas, not for arguments sake but for the reason that I can then play if I get a bank holiday weekend and a little extra time on my hands.

i found that after giving up for a few days on a particular area and then redoing it, i would get an atma in 2-3 fates.

about half of them i have gotten this way.

I just got my 7th Atma tonight and I'm a little over 500 fates into the quest. I just have the feeling that I could be 5 fates away or over 2000.

The issue with this quest and why there are so many posts about it is because the quest is different for every player.

To me it seems odd that one player can achieve in two hrs what another does in 200 or more, but evidently this is intended by SE.
