Just a random note, but it's been stated that dragons are a beast tribe and have a primal of their own.

As for the war of succession, it is also mentioned that the rebels overestimated how much it would disrupt the imperials, which led to Dhoma being destroyed in the failed uprising. If anything, I'm inclined to think that there is a new emperor... And it's common to send political rivals off on expeditions of conquers to get them out of the way.

    this has always confused me.

I'm assuming the primal of dragons would at least have the form of a dragon. i have heared mixed assumptions about Bahamut either or not being the primal of dragons (despite being an elder primal)

not treating him as the primal of dragonkind would rule out the only dragon-like summon from the metaverse besides "mist dragon" from final fantasy iv (i really doubt that mist is the primal)

I'm pretty sure Bahamut is the primal of the dragons -- in FF lore, he's referred to as the King of Dragons/Wyrmking, etc -- it's...really unlikely that the dragons' primal is anything but Bahamut, given what we know.

In some iterations of Final Fantasy, Bahamut is King of Dragons because he usurped Tiamat, so it's possible Tiamat would be the Primal of Dragons. I suppose Bahamut is the best option, by far, but it also seems... I don't know. I don't like the idea of the dragons having the Primal so devastating he caused at least two umbral eras and was imprisoned in a moon as theirs. You'd also think the summoning of Bahamut would be something Dragons venerated, but they didn't get involved at all. I don't know who else it could be, but if the Dragons still venerate Bahamut they have a funny way of showing it.

It's been stated that midgardsomer was a dragon king, and another was mentioned. I suppose it's possible that Bahamut is the dragons primal, but so far there seems to be a difference between primals and elder primals, so that'd be surprising to me. Sorry for spelling, on my phone.
