Future Storyline Theories/Discussion (Spoilers up to patch 2.2)

Because I have an active imagination, way too much time, and I was bored stiff all morning, I made a list in my head of things possibly going to be addressed/should be addressed in future storyline and Chronicles of a New Era quests. Lots of theorizing as well, given what we know, and inferring some things based on implications in the game, and blah blah shut up already. Main points bolded.

    ASCIANS
    • This is The Big One, we know for certain that we’re going to have to deal with these guys. They’re our big bad, our ever-present threat, the ones causing the primal problem and just about half our other ones. We’ll have to handle them, especially since it seems we have a way to beat them.
    • ELIDIBUS — He’s not as much of a concern, tbqh. I don’t think he was the one to trigger the Sahagin summoning Leviathan, it’s not his style and he’s expressed open distaste for Lahabrea’s methods, aka basically what happened with the Sahagin. I do, however, think he approached them separately and offered them the rudimentary Echo thing. He seems more interested in messing around with the Echo and the holders of it than anything else, something that iirc is putting him at odds with the other group. He’s definitely a worry, esp. for the PC and Minfilia, but he’s not our main worry.
    • LAHABREA — This bitch, meanwhile. We know from the post-credits scene after the main storyline he’s back, and he’s brought friends. And they’re continuing their plan, which as we know from his Villain Monologue is to sow chaos and get the primals summoned and usher in a new Umbral Era, as well as oust Hydaelyn so they can summon/revive Zodiark. This is bad. Clearly. So Lahabrea and his cronies are our biggest concern and our biggest threat.
    • Also of note, the fact that, according to the Stinger of 2.2, is seems (I could be wrong) we have an Ascian (unknown who) possessing Teledji Adeledji, our friend in the Syndicate. It’s also unknown how long he’s been possessed; since before he helped us with the Domans or after. And that raises a question: If Teledji Adeledji was possessed while he was helping us, what reason do the Ascians have for wanting to aid the Domans — and for that matter, what does that have to do with his comment of ‘revolution’?
    • Another thing — seeing as thanks to our introduction to Lahabrea’s new friends Pashtarot (male, Elezen?, shaggy white/pale hair), Igeyorhm (female, Hyur, Lightning-style blue hair), and Nabriales (male, Hyur, spiked blondish hair and dangling earrings), as well as Belias-Egi from the Summoner jobquests, we have established firmly a connection between the Ascians and the Scions of Light/Darkness from Ivalice… We know two things — One: Besides the four we have seen, there are at least seven other red-masked ‘overlord’ Ascians we have yet to deal with, and two: we know that there is a primal, possibly an elder one, named Belias, which stands to reason that there are eleven more — one for each Esper besides Zodiark and Ultima. This could potentially be very bad.

    PRIMALS
    • We know that, while we still deal with repeated summonings of the primals, unless they introduce a mode harder than Extreme, we won’t be dealing with the Big Three, Leviathan, and Moggle Mog anymore. Unless, again, they bring that into the storyline — possible considering the introduction of the Ascians into the Extreme Mode quests. For the most part, though, the primals are not a primary concern. The primals are a symptom of the Ascians, and while the most we can do is preventative measures to get rid of them when they pop up, all we’ll be doing is playing Whack-A-Primal until we defeat the Ascians.
    • On a side note, however — it would be an interesting turn if they somehow brought the beast tribe quests into the main story. After all, we now have at least two moderate factions of the beast tribes that can be negotiated with. It would be interesting to see the Scions and the Alliance have diplomatic talks and meetings with at the very least Novv’s Clutch and the Brotherhood of Ash, to extend the hand of peace and friendship to those of the beastmen who want the same in return; a wonderful way to circumvent some of the chaos the Ascians want.
    • Not only that, there is evidence that we’re getting at least one new Primal to deal with — Shiva. And besides Shiva, we still do not know the primals of the goblins, the qiqirn, and the giants. I doubt the Mamool Ja, not being from Eorzea, have a primal.

    THE SCHOLARS OF BALDESION
    • Considering the plight of our faraway friends in Sharlayan keeps being brought up at the ending of each of the patch storylines, it’s safe to assume we’ll keep hearing more of it. In fact, the plight of the Scholars may be what eventually leads us to gain access to the Archons’ homeland — to go and see what we can do to aid anyone who survived, or at least find out what happened.
    • A side note, yet very, very important — it’s been established that Minfilia’s friend and contact in the Scholars is a girl or woman named Krile, who has a grandfather, most likely Galuf. Obviously a direct reference to FFV, yes? Well…if you’ll recall, what was the main villain’s modus operandi and claim to fame in FFV? The Void, a great mass of nothingness he wished to suck the whole world into. And recall what Urianger said at the end of 2.2 — the whole island is…gone. Utterly gone. As if it were…sucked into the Void, perhaps? It’s a solid theory. Especially since it’s clearly established that Gilgamesh has paid Eorzea a visit, and that it is most likely the Gilgamesh. our rift-hopping friend who debuted in FFV.

    THE CRYSTAL TOWER
    • Well, not much to say here. We know that there’s going to be more bosses and things introduced soon, that’s confirmed. All I am going to add is that Nero has yet to make a play for the Tower, and we know that he might make a move soon.

    THE BINDING COIL OF BAHAMUT
    • There’s definitely going to be more coils added, that’s for sure. And it’s only going to escalate, as we now know that Bahamut is fully aware of what we’re doing, and that he’s pulling out all his guns to stop us. Also, to my endless sorrow, going by his words, there is a large possibility we might have to fight Louisoix in the next coil. Not looking forward to that.

    LOOSE THREADS FROM 1.0

There is still a lot from 1.0 they kind of need to address, and here’s my short list of the most likely topics/most needed topics:
    • Trevanchet, the shadowless Elezen from Limsa.
    • The two horns that played roles in the Ul’dah and Limsa Lominsa storylines.
    • Possibly Niellefresne’s fate, especially considering we’ve now met Lolorito and now that F’lhaminn is with the Scions.
    • The grim-reaper-esque creature we saw, that was called an Ascian.

    THE PAST ERAS
    • I believe, and if not then I hope, that we’ll get more information on the archons and the Fifth Astral Era/Sixth Umbral Era and the War of the Magi. There’s tantalizingly little information on all of those subjects, and they’re all interconnected. I hope that they’ll address those, even if it’s just with another dungeon.
    • In addition, considering major plots deal with Dalamud, the Crystal Tower, and other Allagan inventions, here’s hoping we’ll get a larger glimpse into the Allagan Empire — seeing as that if you look under the surface, the Allags were incredibly dark and not as nice as you might assume they are.

    GARLEMALD
    • THE WAR OF SUCCESSION — Yugiri mentioned it twice. This means that there’s a good chance that Emperor Solus zos Galvus is either on his deathbed or actually dead. So the empire is possibly in shambles. Now, there’s no telling if his will affect Eorzea, but it might. It just might.
    • Other than that, the Empire might not be a problem. Since we blew up the Praetorium, killed the Legati, and Gaius died, we cut off the figurative head of the serpent, and all that’s left is the remnants of the XIVth Legion… We really don’t have to worry about the Empire unless the War of Succession bleeds onto Eorzean soil; which, given that Ala Mhigo is under Imperial occupation, it might.

Just a random note, but it's been stated that dragons are a beast tribe and have a primal of their own.

As for the war of succession, it is also mentioned that the rebels overestimated how much it would disrupt the imperials, which led to Dhoma being destroyed in the failed uprising. If anything, I'm inclined to think that there is a new emperor... And it's common to send political rivals off on expeditions of conquers to get them out of the way.

I'm curious, what makes you think Ascians are involved at all with? So far as I could tell it was pure politics. Ul'dah has been split politically for awhile, it makes sense to me that eventually someone would attempt a power play, but I may be missing something.

Okay then. that's what I'll do. I'll tell you a story. Can you hear them? All these people who lived in terror of you and your judgement. All these people who's ancestors devoted themselves to you, sacrificed themselves to you. Can you hear them singing?

One thing to remember is that its highly likely the expansion is dealing with Ishgard; something said about the thousand years war (AKA, the war between Ishgard and Dravania), so we have that can of worms to dive into...

At Super FATE it was mentioned that Ramuh and Leviathan Egis would become available to summoners. Given that a Summoner must be present at the defeat of a Primal to be able to control it's Egi, this means fighting Ramuh at some point. I am not done with all current content, but to my knowledge this fight has not already taken place.

I actually didn't notice that! What I was thinking was since they showed us that sequence directly after the PC and Minfilia discussing the Ascians, it would be strange if the two sequences were unrelated...I mean, again, I could be wrong, but it doesn't seem likely that it's not an Ascian -- even if he isn't possessed, it's likely there's some influence there. Hmmm... Hey, though, that's why I made the thread! There's gotta be tons of different theories. ~discussion~

And as for what Gravye and PArcher said, I totally forgot the dragons. As an added note, it occurs to me that the Dravanians didn't start really acting up til after the Calamity -- as it's said that the Stone and Steel Vigils weren't taken til after the Calamity.

Does that mean that Bahamut being underground/in the Coils is making them more active? Another hmmm....

And a third hmmm re: Iris -- nope! We haven't had to deal with Ramuh, and you're right, we'd have to fight him if we were going to get a Summoner Egi for Ramuh. Uh-oh! GDI Sylphs why u do that. (that makes TWO new primals at the very least...nice.)

That's correct - currently the sylphs lack the ability to summon Ramuh (which they've only done once) - the player is given his crystal without having to fight him during the storyline. Most likely his battle would probably be opened up in a later storyline quest in a similar way that Leviathan was (which was also mentioned early in the storyline as not being able to be summoned at that time by the sahagin).

But I guess we'll see in due time.

    this has always confused me.

I'm assuming the primal of dragons would at least have the form of a dragon. i have heared mixed assumptions about Bahamut either or not being the primal of dragons (despite being an elder primal)

not treating him as the primal of dragonkind would rule out the only dragon-like summon from the metaverse besides "mist dragon" from final fantasy iv (i really doubt that mist is the primal)

I'm pretty sure Bahamut is the primal of the dragons -- in FF lore, he's referred to as the King of Dragons/Wyrmking, etc -- it's...really unlikely that the dragons' primal is anything but Bahamut, given what we know.
