I learned this fight where the tank grabs the boss and tanks it at the edge of the arena facing the mob to the outside. Everyone else stands dead center. This is so everyone does not get hit by the fire attack and everyone but tank is already in the middle for when the boss goes into ZOOM ZOOM mode.

Yes no one should just stand there and get whacked in the face but it is the tanks job to position the mob.

Also on the topic of speed running this zone. Tanks need to open their damned mouths when the run starts. They need to state:
Are they speed running or not?
    How many pulls?
    Lockout or not?

    And the biggest thing:
Where are they stopping after a pull. Apparently it is a thing for some tanks to take the first pull of mobs **UP** the ramp and tanking at the top not the bottom like 99.999% of people do. Had a tank get quite vulgar with me (healer) once when we wiped because he pulled up the ramp and left me going "Uh... WTF?".

tl;dr Must have been horrible DPS if you had to down the last bomb. When I go, I LB the boss @ 20% over and done.

I'm sorry you had bad player in your party. Why people have to take a jab at people is beyond me. Personally it's a matter of everyone working together.

If tank stands here. You don't stand near them
If you are pulling hate from tank you need to pull back a little on your DPS.
If you are a healer pulling hate you need to use your cool downs better.

The only fault of the tank is failing to hold hate because a over geared DPS, AOE spam healer pulls hate, or not knowing rotation.

As for speed runs. I look at the party setup Normally pull the 1st group of mobs get a feel for how fast we can kill mobs safely and go from there.

What do you mean by positioning in a sensible direction? That can be anywhere you find suitable. The one thing I don't like about some tanks is that they never explain what they are about to do. Not every run will be the same.

Are you going to pull all? Two groups? Three? (Because when it looks like you have stopped, Healer is going to heal)
Where will you be tanking the boss? (After the first wipe Healer and BLM should have realized where you're tanking)

It's like no one wants to talk and somehow we think we can read peoples minds.

I didn't know groups still needed to use LB to skip the final phase. We usually use lb earlier on, to further speed the defeat of the boss.

Also OP using a vague response like "sensible direction" isn't answering any questions. How about you come out and say what you did exactly? Everyone is assuming either your "sensible direction" is towards the middle, and you expect the group to get behind the boss "your way", or they are assuming you did the correct thing, which is face the boss to the wall, with your back to it. If you continue being vague, that's kind of trolling. Expecting people to know exactly what you mean.

People have done this run so many freaking times by now, they are pretty tired of it, and I'm sure certain players probably are just waiting for a opportunity to troll people, or just waiting for a excuse to blow up(verbally) on the party for not having perfect execution.

nubtank. I tank this boss all the time, and I have him facing the south wall at all times. These WHM's and BLM's you speak of are probably spoiled by good tanks like me.

To be fair, They are also noobs. They should not be standing in front of bosses, regardless of what the tank is doing.

I don't really understand the point of this thread.

OP que'd up for DF, got placed in a bad party and decided to rage on the forums about it?

Does this make you (OP) feel better or something?

Newsflash, there are bad players/jerks in every game. If every player who had a bad experience in-game posted on the forums about it, these forums would crash due to server overload.

TL/DR? Get over it, you're not special. DF is DF, occasionally you run into people who are bad and/or jerks.

Don't know if you mean "Skip" by using LB on the big bomb or just what I meant for LB the boss at 20% and its over with. But I never seen or heard of anyone using it at the start of the fight. When I get back on this week I will have to try that out.

Read the OP and some responses. Skimmed the rest.

I have to side with the OP on this one, even giving everyone the benefit of the doubt, if only because after ONE wipe AT THE END OF THE DUNGEON the SCH attempted to abandon.

I mean....Really? At the end boss? You already went through the whole dungeon with the team.

Our group always speed runs without issues, plenty of aoe as blm and rarely have had issues.
The again i do use quelling Strikes
But yeah if dps still @ lvl 50 and beyond still attack before allowing tank to get agro, then yes their fault although sometimes it ban be by accident.
At the same time tanks must remember to turn on their abilities like Defiance and the ability for PLD (the names escapes me)
