Not referring to the OP's case here since we have no screenshot or video to show exactly what happened, but in general, yea, no. Just as there are special people who haven't learned by this point that standing in front of a boss is a bad idea, there are tanks who haven't learned by this point that pointing the boss towards the rest of the party is a bad idea. In fact it was just last week I ran into a MT who refused to turn Leviathan's head away from the center.
