Oh well this sucks. Would've loved more variety in terms of what I can summon. That and carbuncle looks cute and like an actual summon.
To late they already stated that a while back. Although I do think we will get a wyvern mount at some point.
This below is something they said they would be looking into after 2.0

The first half of that post he stated if they was going to add a wyvern they would have to balance the job and would make the dragoon weaker alone unless it had its wyvern. When it was put forward to the player base a lot of people said they would rather not have Wyvern.

I agree I would like them to add something to the class system after 30 it is wasted (What was point it even leveling past 30). I dunno maybe offer a different direction strengthening the base job after 30 adding extra spells and abilities.
Take Conjurer give them white magic nukes and let them sign into dd slot or Thaumatage let them absorb hp from the mob and transfer the hp to other members and sign up as a healer. I know not possible/realistic suggestions would just like MORE from the system I think base classes are wasted.
You're misunderstanding how the Armoury System works - you're still always levelling your 'class' even when you have the Job equipped - the Job doesn't replace the class it just adds onto it (sacrificing some cross class slots for it's own unique abilities and a stat increase).I agree I would like them to add something to the class system after 30 it is wasted (What was point it even leveling past 30). If you read the chat log every time you gain exp with a Job equipped, it will actually mention in the message 'xxxx received xxxx <insert class name here> experience points!' instead of the Job's name. 1.0 actually stated both the Job's name and it's default class name beside it in brackets on the GUI to avoid such confusion, which I wish SE would have retained. But ah well.
I'm Sorry that is some ball crap right there Carbuncle is a damn summon so as a summoner we should be able to summon him. You need to listen to ur player base on this. Stop screwing up the Summoner and the egis I hate to think what Shiva egi will look like i think at that point i will stop using summoner altogether because of this pulley thought out class when it comes to the look and ability's of the summon and the use of them in party's..

Think whats more important for summoner at the rpesent is making Ifrit a viable option to use, as viable as Garuda.
Overall Ifrit does higher DPS than Garuda, but has a fatal flaw... It keeps dieing! Saw it today in Amdapor, SMn using Ifrit, dieing constantly on boss fights from PBAE. Addin a waste of mana to keep resummoning.
Simple fix would be to make it immune or take minimal damage from AE in pve.
Otherwise is it viable to switch between Ifrit for low hp trash where in many cases the normal dot duration expires before they are dead, nullifying the extender from Garuda, then switching to Garuda for protracted fights?
