IMO, they need to get rid of "summon I-III" and have it free choice as to what you can summon as summoner. I too wish I could use carbuncle sometimes....
I agree whole heartedly with you. Carby was ok for the start, but I really LIKE the Egis. True they may not be as epic as in FFXI, but this isn't FFXI, and I enjoy the new designs and take on the SMN class.

I just wonder why only jobs are the only available options once you're level 30+
I'd like to play as a lvl50 Arcanist (with carbuncles), maurauder, or conjurer... but for now classes are just useless comparing to jobs.
Yeah... I took off the soul stone, lost Summon III & a few key abilities like Enkindle & Fester. I was also unable to use Blizzard II which I previously had as a secondary ability. There was nothing to compensate for being a pure level 50 Arcanist. I wonder what the logic is here...
I should have tried a duty roulette to see how long it would take before I was vote kicked.
It feels like the point to not using job crystals was to have a much better cross class selection. And then they went all FF11 on us and made sure everything cross class is at least useless unless you are a melee class.
Would be nice if they did do this
Seems there is a lot more support for this than i had anticipated! Sure, there are people who don't mind or even prefer the egi's, but choice never hurts ^^.
Heck it would be nice if they made it so that Garuda isnt the only viable summon at 50, at this stage theres no point to ifrit or titan at all.
Hello,
We confirmed with the Battle team that there are currently no plans to allow summoners to call forth carbuncle.
