While there is a problem with people leaving and its better to fix the problem rather than try to cover the problem up, I think this is one time where it either just needs to be covered up or it needs to be covered up at the same time as the underlying problem is fixed.
My point is, if people are leaving instances it wouldn't make as many people upset if they could get a replacement quicker, if at all. I don't care why someone leaves, stuff happens and people gotta go or many other reasons. If you create a situation where replacements for any class can be found in minutes then the people who want to finish that dungeon can do so even if people abandon This is further proven by what job drops. DPS drop, NBD we will get another. Why can't this same mindset be for tanks and healers as well? Because they aren't queuing for in progress instances. Fix that
Why can't we queue for in progress instances only as well as new only or either? Why can't we get some visual on what in progress instances are currently looking for a certain role? Why aren't there specific bonuses or rewards to joining and completing an in progress?
Yea, I like to save dungeon runs. I like when the tank drops after the dps immediately drops upon loading into pharos. But slowly plowing through it until another dps and eventually a tank shows up then go on to beat it with two new to the dungeon dps with no problems makes me feel like a hero. Because I don't abandon just because they did.
If I could see that "hey someone needs a healer for a Haukke NM run and we will give you X <insert currency/points/items here> if you can get in and help them" I might be inclined to hop in and help them, as would other people.
No this doesn't stop people from abandoning and hey it could make it worse, but who cares when that tank that left will be replaced very soon and you can finish with minimal delays. At least this way would lower the impact of abandoners to the rest of the team, which at least one of them needed to do this dungeon anyways since the dungeon was picked(from a roulette users point of view at least).
