takes 17 running with whatever your gathering class ability is to have quick non stop. it takes well over an hour to walk from iron lake to glory.Truth be told, a game doesn't need Insta-travel to everywhere to be casual friendly. That is just TOO friendly. Right now it only takes like 15 mins to walk from uld to gridania. With chocobos that time will be cut down, with airships that time will be cut down even further.

Again, these changes would be after the implementation of Chocobos and Airships. I understand that the OP didn't initially say that, but it's a realistic assumption considering they didn't put anything about Anima reworking in the Letter#10. In FFXI it would take 20-30 minutes to run from Sandy to Jeuno, and that's without the first death-run you have to pull just to get there. Which I loved, by the way.

Insulting people in the counter argument isn't going to change their minds. It will make them stick harder to their opinion regardless of whether or not it's right, and think less of your opinion simply because you insulted them. In essence, if you want to try and change someone's mind, come up with a well thought-out response and don't be a dick.
Nah, i walked from uld to grid in my early non-gathering days, with no skills, and it took around 15 mins. takes a little less with the skills.
And I have done the La Noscea - mor dhona - coerthas - shroud - thanalan - la nocea route before myself. i would do it again, with or without a chocobo. I am not addicted to teleporting.

you're not the only one not addicted to porting. i keep 100 or close to it at all times. that is a personal preference i choose to make and run most places i go. someone else porting because they do not like to run every time they go somewhere does not change nor hurt my game at all.Nah, i walked from uld to grid in my early non-gathering days, with no skills, and it took around 15 mins. takes a little less with the skills.

the one thing i would love seeing that has been suggested is something i would have loved to see from day 1. require everyone to run to all camps and get the nodes before they can port to them. i do remember the challenge of myself and ivan running through mor dhona and coerthas getting all the camps and nodes we could get as level 10-15 characters. was many deaths, but it was a great experience.

Running to camps to get the ports is too easy too. There are only 1 whole route to a camp that people actually go to often that you could possibly die from running, and thats Broken water. But only possibly die, because we can out run pretty much any monster, except stags, raptors, biasts, and drakes. just to list a few, those buggers are fast.you're not the only one not addicted to porting. i keep 100 or close to it at all times. that is a personal preference i choose to make and run most places i go. someone else porting because they do not like to run every time they go somewhere does not change nor hurt my game at all.

I don't mind Teleportation either, my tiff with it is that:
1) You get it from level 1, friends can take you anywhere in the world and you can get those crystals too without you having to have it beforehand.
2) Hand-holding when everyone and their dog can do it for no reason.
Marauders have the magical power to teleport themselves across the world, with no lore to explain such reasons for said ability. It makes no sense. However, if the Marauder went to an Aethryte crystal, which in itself has the ability to teleport you to any of the other crystals, it makes more sense. It would also add to why your anima gets drained whenever you use it.
I actually kind of miss that White Mages could Tele and BLM could Warp. I liked that in FFXI a lot. Yes, it sucked trying to find someone to do it for you, but there was always the item-usage alternative if you were desperate.
Plus it was a good way to make money >_>

Reika and others, I like your idea and hope you don't mind me adding them to the beginning for clarification.
If they want us to run, they would have done things to encourage it. It could have been something just as simple as running across NPCs along the roads, offering a variety of quests and/or challenges. With some sort of worthwhile rewards to further encourage players to stop and offer their assistance.
