Well Brucey is right as well. You are not forced to use anima. this all ties into player preference. There's no need to really change the system as it is now.Since time is being brought up incessantly, exactly how much time does it take to run to an aetheryte?
And just like Pretty said, they found exciting things when they're weren't using anima. A vagrant adventurer is more likely to have better experiences than a "jumper".
SE should have made it like this at the forefront of this games opening.
IF don't. Like it you don't have to use it I think its fine the way it is so some self control maybe
I would hope that once chocobos and airships are in the game that anima regeneration would be slowed.
This is possibly an easier restriction to implement than teleporting only from a crystal, and doesn't completely take away what everybody is already accustomed to.

I wonder if the people who complain about the current teleport system making the world seem too small have ever run from Limsa to Gridania. When I was leveling my Mining I would do just that every reset. Walk to each city to get all the mining leves I could and let me tell you, it gets old REALLY fast. The world is boring even though it is large, especially those loooooooong hallways in the Black Shroud.
Yes teleporting from anywhere can make the world seem small but I doubt those who complain would ever choose to walk instead of teleport currently (outside of lack of anima).

I've always hated the ability to teleport from anywhere. It makes Eorzia's adventures unfit, fat, and lazy. I understand some people don't have much play time, but it doesnt take THAT much time to run from area to area. I would go as far as to not only make teleporting from Aethecyte to Aethecyte only, but also remove Ayethecites from camps and instead create a few Aethecytes per area in random locations away from the camps. Sorta like in FFXI, but with more than one area to teleport from/to.
And yes, it would be nice if they implemented chocobos as well, especially if they do it like i would like it. Of course if they do it this way or the OP's way, you will have people moaning about it, the same people that hate running to retainers in the MW most likely...

If you like so much running, then don't use the teleportation and run, but in my opinion, it's a stupid idea.SE Dev team please ween us off of this "Jumper" ability and limit it's use to only around an Aetheryte.
I can't speak for everyone but I've been spoiled by it.
Treading to our crystallized wonders won't kill us plus they're already positioned in the right places.
Make us at least work for where we have to go.
Initially, you'll hear grumps; In the end we'll appreciate everything more.

Edit:
I should state I'm not asking to get rid of anima/teleportation. I just believe it's beneficial for us and the game to actually make the aetherytes the only place where you are allowed to use anima/teleportation.
Without chocobos, for me is incredibly boring to walk on foot. And that's wht so many people is asking for chocobos and airships. Your point of view is only yours I think.
In my opinion, whatever it is you do in life and or in a game, having to work for and achieve something makes it mean more to you. That applies to jobs, money, women, practically anything.
Being given something automatically reduces your perceived value of it.
If traveling in Eorzea requires no work, we will unawarely miss out on the beauty of it because we can experience it anytime we choose. It isn't something we have to work for. Thus, creating a game where we aren't amazed by anything due to it's easy accessibility. Everyone wants a challenge. Making aetherytes the only avenue for teleporting doesn't necessarily create a challenge but it places, albeit a small one, work towards our simple traveling goal.
Therefore once we achieve it, we appreciate it more.
Unrestrictive teleportation in Eorzea is wiping what little appreciation there is to be had in this game.
Give it life. Allow us to be grateful by granting us the ability to work for our goals. Whether they are small or grand.

you can work for it all you want. i have ran from limsa to coerthas enough times i have see what is between them. i do not need to have to run through there every time i want to go there. In my opinion, whatever it is you do in life and or in a game, having to work for and achieve something makes it mean more to you. that's like some people love to drive a car on vacation to go cross country to see all the stuff on the trip. after a few drives to the same place you say ok i have seen it and next time i am just going to ride the plane.

Yes, but first you had to go to the airport.you can work for it all you want. i have ran from limsa to coerthas enough times i have see what is between them. i do not need to have to run through there every time i want to go there.

Next, you were waiting (while maybe enjoying the view of your aerial trip if I might add?) during the flight.
Then you arrived in your destination, gathered your belongings and traveled to your hotel.
Once you arrived you rejoiced and were delighted about everything because of the new scenery and the work/wait it took to get there.
All I'm saying is when you create some sort of work ethic to accomplish a goal, the feeling is rewarding when you do it.

which brings me back to my original point. once the other means of transportation are put in place there will be an argument for that, but not at this point.Yes, but first you had to go to the airport.

you know things like the actual airport for the airship or stables for the chocobo. at this point you can walk if you wish to do so which is what i mostly do, but for those that are limited on time them being able to port where they need to go fast does nothing to hurt your game.
if you want to walk to the node to port so it feels right to you or you want to walk everywhere that is personal preference.
edit: your comparison also fails as to the point after you have been to the same place multiple times and been in the same airport multiple times it is no longer new or exciting. after a few times going somewhere it becomes a hassle not fun. if you have been on a plane much and in an airport you know people are not there for fun of the flight. they are there for the final destination.
