It really isn't that much of a time sink. 2-5 minutes at most? It depends on your location.
There are so many aetherytes around I don't understand why it wasn't made like that in the first place.

to be honest, i used to think the same thing until i realized the game is bland and boring. When they redo the map introduce mounts and airships i will gladly agree with you.
Yes teleport jumping is a problem in that in a world so vast, you are going to use 10% of it. It's no difference then an instance game with scenery.
Making teleporting crystal only does have a good effect (and yes other forms of transportation are also needed at some point).
To offset death warps, make one of the penalties of weakness a deduction in anima. Combine that with various other effects and you have a sizable hinderance.
Sure it'll create a bigger time sink, but the game is a time sink anyway.
If we have all this teleporting around, might as well just create a town and instanced dungeons. Forget the world map.
If the world (ingame) wasn't boring and bland maybe then i would agree, but running for 15 minutes looking at copy and pasted textures isn't all that fun. Run from uld to limsa and if you don't fall asleep halfway all you see is cow's and dodo's

The game is boring, but hopefully it's not going to stay that way.
Honestly it's not that much running either.
Let's say your in Uldah, just run to the city aetheryte and now you're able to travel to any aetheryte you've touched.
At the entrance of Gridania? Simply make it to BentBranch, now you have an option of going to Emerald Moss or even Limsa.
It's not taking it away. It's gradually getting us to stop being so dependent upon it. That way it won't be such a drab if they do decide to remove it when they implement other methods of transportation.

how about you ask for this after chocobos are instated.SE Dev team please ween us off of this "Jumper" ability and limit it's use to only around an Aetheryte.
I can't speak for everyone but I've been spoiled by it.
Treading to our crystallized wonders won't kill us plus they're already positioned in the right places.
Make us at least work for where we have to go.
Initially, you'll hear grumps; In the end we'll appreciate everything more.
Jobeto-
It's player preference really. I usually walk to my destinations. Recently I have been going around collecting all of the aether crystals and have found some pretty extraordinary things in my travels. I just needs coerthas and the limsa region. I use my anima sparingly.
Exactly! I think since we're so used to using it, we don't even know that we're missing out on stuff. I really want to be immerged in this game. I switched everyone's names off because it partially took that away. It's player preference really. I usually walk to my destinations. But if the option is still there without us working at all to use it, we'll eventually abuse it, until our anima runs out of course. Then we'd be force to walk anyway.

Then play the game how you like to play it. You are not forced to use your anima in the middle of the field. Like Pretty just said, it's personal preference. Some people like to run and find new places. Some people don't have enough time and need to get where they need to go to join with their group and get their enjoyment started that way. This is why we have options. It's a game and that is also a reason why you shouldn't use real life examples. It's a fantasy game. Not visiting your local zoo.

This isn't just about me and my preference.
It's more of simple reasons why this game is less attractive than others.
Since time is being brought up incessantly, exactly how much time does it take to run to an aetheryte?
Also, when you first played this game, didn't you have to run to every aetheryte? Can you say you enjoyed making it there because of the time it took and the reward of now being able to teleport there? Placing the need to travel to one puts more importance into our crystals.
And just like Pretty said, they found exciting things when they're weren't using anima. A vagrant adventurer is more likely to have better experiences than a "jumper".
SE should have made it like this at the forefront of this games opening.
