Should you have to be wearing gear you attach to for Materia making?

Hi Xenor. Since you decided to call me a troll when I simply asked you an honest question, I will once again repeat the question, and emphasize that I'm not being sarcastic. This is an honest question.

Why can't you wear your best gear during parties/raids/dungeons? The Materia System (as far as I can tell) does nothing to prevent you from doing so.

I didn't answer your question because you didn't read my post. If you did read it then you'd not be asking such a question. You WILL be wearing your best gear in raid content because you won't be invited if you're a gimp. The system still encourages you to be a gimp in every scenario where wearing your best equipment isn't important however (all current content for example). That's what I don't like.
