And everyone that says its not hard, yeah going to work everyday and being a contributing member of society is hard, being a fuckstick in a video game thinking you're good cause it's your life, yeah that really isn't hard

Sorry to hear you're leaving based off of that, OP. I'm sure you'll find a MMO that suits you some day since there's so many to choose from.
My raid leader is a pharmacist. My raid group has both people who work full time and people in school/higher education and we consider most content easy. This generalization of "all good gamers have no life" is a joke. I'm starting to think some people say it because they're jealous. :/

I work full time, and my progress is slow in the game but the "road blocks" I have are the same as the people who dedicate hours of their day to the game. Difficult content requires learning and it takes time to learn, and just because I don't have the luxury of time to learn much I don't stress myself out over it and mark the game is unplayable/difficult. I call BS.
If you can memorize a map, where shit spawns, and where people are going to be camping you, you can memorize "hey, this boss always does this mechanic that kills me after x move" and not die.
If you're remotely "good" at a video game, memorizing the boss fight should be the least of your concerns, especially when knowledge on basically every single one of them is easily accessible.
I can spend 5-10 minutes learning a fight and not repeatedly die to the same exact thing.
The only legitimate concern in your entire post is depending on 7 other people.
THAT part sucks and at that point its not you holding everyone back.
"I can dodge an extremely predictable attack," does not translate to "I can dodge an extremely predictable attack only because I play this game 21 hours a day and I'm awesome at life because of it."
Even without a guide, how can you NOT notice that y move comes after x move and still get hit repeatedly? That's a fundamental of gaming.
EDIT: MGS will tell you to unplug the controller if you use the Codec. It tells you in the game. -_-
