So they need a gear option that's equal to said hard content, even though they can't do said hard content. Ummm... k?Which also justifies the zodiac quest as a necessary option. Some players have enough skill to do Coil, hell some of these players are the most skilled in the game, but if you can't find a group of 7 people who are equally skilled, Coil will forever be out of reach. Many skilled players simply don't have that luck due to RL circumstances that hinder them joining a "static."
No, people were complaining that it wasn't like Myth in 2.0.I wasn't aware soldiery gear was equal to coil drops, thanks for the information :P
/sarcasm
But seriously, people should at least have something to gear up with in case the opportunity arises where they can do coil. Starting coil 6 as i100 makes life easier for you and your party rather than being i90.

My biggest issue is that grinding low level fates without measurable progress has no secondary reward (no significant gil or seals or anything else). So the 30+ hours I've spent for 3 atma feel like a complete waste of time. I'm working on it just b/c the RNG from the drop I really want (T5) hasn't been kind... but I've just traded one RNG for another RNG.
It's just frustrating not to see much measurable progress and not even feel like I'm accumulating anything else while I do it (it's been 23 hours of fate grinding since my last atma drop). Yes the myth grind is long but at least there's progress seen.
Giving players a choice of "do this easy thing a billion times and maybe the random number generator will decide to give you your reward" isn't less challenging. It's stupendously boringYou need skills for coil 6-9. SE is just trying to appeal to as many players (casual and hardcore) as possible. There's something in it for everyone. Atma quests and coil are both optional so players do get a choice of what they want to do. If you make everything super challenging, then all the casual players are gonna cry about why the game is so hard.

Maybe you should learn something about eorzea history. But now they have it where we're going through all this trouble to recreate what's supposed to be the weapons the strongest fighters in the world used to save the world but oh some weapons made by some civilization that was recently destroyed by Garleans just magically happens to be stronger than those.
The garlean empire is around 55 years old (it was a small republic before the current emperor made it a big empire)
The Allagan civilization existed thousands of years ago.
With each Atma you get you need to do 1 zone less. isn't it a measurable progress in some way?

Just because the Allag were advance, doesn't mean they were invincible. Recall Ultima Weapon IS Allag tech, yet we were able to kill it with the help of Hydaelyn. It was literally their weapon against the primals.
Man, you had to grind in most FF's for gold, special items etc to get an upgraded weapon, or a weapon from a shop. It's the same idea, just with a different approach and I can't believe the amount of QQ'ing over it. Frst you didn't want it handed over to you and now it's too much of a pain to get, even because it's a timesink. Hell even in FF1, you had to grind for gold to get nice equipment and spells at the beginningIt's just one small part of the game to grind for atma drops. Yeah it doesn't involve skill, it is a time sink, but hey don't like it, go to do new coils, you need skill for that or extreme bosses in df you'll get a better weapon than atma upgrade anyways, goodluck

I'm working on my 4th atma book now, but what you said is true. I got over that frustration thinking that at least my chocobo got the attention it needed when i was able to level it up to 7 from all this FATE grinding. But even that is frustrating because you can't use DF while doing so. I feel its something SE should have remedied by now. Im OK with this ATMA grinding, but my dream of eventually having all my classes get the "story" weapon just stays as it is...a dream. I don't know if I have the time and patience to do it all over again even when I try doing it casually and at my own pacing. My biggest issue is that grinding low level fates without measurable progress has no secondary reward (no significant gil or seals or anything else). Oh man, an MMO that it could potentially take years to get ultimate weapons for every class in the game.I'm working on my 4th atma book now, but what you said is true. This game as easy ways and hard ways to get gear. I dont see how its a new design since before 2.2 relics were almost as good as allagan weapons. Still 1 easy to get and the other much harder
