sorry but that the dumbest idea they could come up with why not just allow us to kill X amount of mobs in each area like ffxi?
at least we see new areas and new mobs lol

This. The beauty of that approach is that it helps build up characters related to the quests and even creates staples and VERY memorable characters that aren't exactly vital main story NPCs but remembered nevertheless.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
The story in quests is really bad and the lack of cutscenes only makes them worse.
But I'm happy if I never have to hear voice-acting in this game ever again.
Better writing and better quest design. Currently I can't tell the difference between leves and quests so them announcing that leves aren't the center of the game anymore really doesn't change the game that much.
Really? I'd like to have more voice-overs, actually. :/
That's certainly an issue.
I've been trying to cut the dev team some slack because I know the pressure is on and the clock is ticking to get major overhauls to basic systems completed. But now that side-quests will be a new option to level, they've now taken center stage, as well. Just because they're called side-quests (never been very fond of the name as it implies they're of lesser importance), doesn't mean they should be insignificant. In fact, they're now just as important as any other means of leveling.
It's fine if leve objectives aren't the most engaging. They're meant to be impersonal mercenary work orders picked up at a counter. You don't need to interact with anyone to get the job done. But quests are different, and should feel different. Not only because you're interacting with NPCs, but you're now taking part in a story. I realize they can't all be epic sweeping quest chains (though some of them certainly should), especially since I'm sure they'll be adding quite a few of them to the game now, but they definitely need to be better than leve quality if they're going to be a fun and meaningful means of progression.

personally I'd rather have more voiceovers too. Everything in this game is so muted and boring. And I miss hearing that funny lalafell from the Gridania scenario quest.Really? I'd like to have more voice-overs, actually. :/

What's the point of employing such funny voice actors if you're just going to under-utilise them?
And it's true that they need to be better now that the emphasis has been shifted onto these socalled "side" quests. Maybe they could have got away with the inferior quality before, but not now.
Me, too! Cracks me up!

Quest Grinding in FF XIV would be very hard (we need thousands of quests ingame for all classes) or very boring (many many repeatable quests for all the classes who can't make the other quests anymore). Quests would be a part of the big picture, but not the biggest part.
