I imagine once people start getting HQ versions of these that will change. That's where the real record breakers are at. I have afeeling something like the Gigantshark will be pretty huge.

Based on a real time fishing of people - the database populates automatically via a special app (FF14AnglerRep) which runs in the background, monitors your log file and updates the WWW with the fishing data (bait, time, size).

The biggest one to date is still Titanic Sawfish with 169 of them caught - the biggest one is 196.2.

Only the Silver Sovereign can barely match the size of Titanic Sawfish - with 6868 caught the biggest being 174.3.

Gigantshark - not that big - max is 123.9 ilms.

But what you can also learn from there is that Titanic Sawfish can be caught only between 9 and 14.

Sabretooth Cod was caught with the Rat Tail bait in the evening/night.

Oschon's Print was caught at night during clear weather.

caught mine at 2:04 am in rainy weather. i received 2 fish got away messages at 348 gathering, finally got it on the 3rd attempt at 353 gathering. was my last and by far most annoying fish due to the small time-slot and weather requirement along with marrow sucker (took 5 rainy eorzean nights) and octomammoth(took 6-7 eorzean days mainly because i kept HQ'ing those horrible finger shrimps and lominsan anchovies XD). glad to be done with this.

Those are my last fish to get too. Yeah, I went through a couple eorzean days not getting a single moochable fish for the Octomammoth. And waiting for it to rain in the desert is getting annoying. Grats on getting it done you guys.
