Big Fish and you: What bait is needed when to land the big one

Instead of continuing in that other thread, let's just put them all in here. Fellow pullers of Eorzea, we've got new wavekin to conquer. I'll use this as a compendium of knowledge until the other big hitters get to it (C'mon DoL.com).

Important: The gathering stat listed here is entirely theoretical. I choose what to write based on what I know from the fine pullers submitting their catches in this thread. It's fair to say that all of these fish need more than 300, and the more the better. Example: You can catch a Silver Sovereign with 301 gathering, but you'll lose a bunch of them. Get your gathering stat as high as you can. If a catch can't be made with a stat listed here (or indeed for any of the parameters listed here) I'll update with the new information as I get it.

Done! I'll keep updating the list as certain parameters become more clear with time. Thank you everyone who participate, and happy pulling!

Torquere made a list with more information and a better layout! Click here!

    Now organized for easier pulling!

Slimy bastard! I think I'll make a stack of Spinach Quiche (this is now the best Gathering food) and use it while fishing.

Right now the max gathering you can get is:
    - from gear - 348
    - from company action (Live off the Land II) - 10
    - from food (Spinach Quiche HQ) - 24
    --------------------
Max pimped boosted gathering as of 2.2: 382

    And perception:
    - from gear - 289
    - from company action (What You See II) - 10
    - from food (Landtrap Salad HQ) - 19
    --------------------
Max pimped boosted perception as of 2.2: 318

I have been fishing for the Navigator's Brand for a while now with no luck. Is it a straight catch or a mooch?

It's a straight catch. A shellmate is also having bad luck, but I caught mine in about 5 minutes, on my 4th or 5th cast. Just luck I guess. Pray to the RNG gods?

Was clear weather, during the day.

EDIT: Heartbreak. Caught the 20 silver sovereigns I needed for the new rod, only to realise they wanted 20 HQ sovereigns. I thought I was so close ><

Currently working Nophica's Well to find that mystery fish. I'm going in blind with no knowledge but I'll write down all the info I can get for the 30+ new fish.

Does anyone have a link to just these new fish? I would appreciate it.

Awesome thanks! I really should use these more often but it's more fun finding things out by first hand experience. I had the time then that I don't have now.

I'm not entirely sure, no. I'll change it to clear sunny then, that seems to be the common finding. Not sure why I put all day originally... Being an idiot I suppose. I can confirm that sovereigns are all day and all weathers though. Unfortunately getting this new rod is my new Luminary trial, so I'll be here until I get all 20 HQ fish.

    Might be a while.
