We tested this out with Battleping rather than WTFast, but found that the reduction in ping that you see in Resource Monitor is because you're now getting a ping response from the local VPN endpoint rather than the game server, making it meaningless. Assuming WTFast works the same way, which it probably does, the reduction is likely to be significantly overrated by this method, and given that FFXIV doesn't report ping itself, it's rather difficult to confirm anything.
