WTF is the point of having classes and jobs in a one-to-one relationship?

Why dont they just replace the armory system if they hate it so much?

(Im not suggesting the replace it, btw, because I actually like the armory system. But THEY obviously dont.)

in that famitsu magasine interview they did specify that in the future there would be jobs that requires several (let's say 2 for now) classes at X level to unlock a job (i.e. CON + THM = RDM). Not sure if the exemple was from the interview or if it was the translator that added it as an exemple.

    but CON=WHM and THM=BLM so RDM=WHM+RDM not CON+THM

I'm fine either way really it just needs to be in the game. I'm willing to let go of half of my CON OR THM skills as long as BLMs and WHMs happen someday. Also if I can't solo with these classes they're next to useless additions for me.

It's not a FF without Black mages =( qq quuuUuuuuu!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe they said somewhere that eventually there will be multiple jobs for each class. Also, they're designing the Classes themselves to be more versatile as solo'ers. The jobs will have more specific roles for party play for challenging content. If they implement this correctly it's a fantastic system
IMO. Its not like the jobs will eclipse the classes or vice versa, they'll complement each other for different things oyu do with them.

No, it's absolutely stupid. The "whole point" of the armory system is to design your own playstyle/build a class. A job/advanced class system is just making the whole freedom-aspect of the armroy system redundant and obsolete and they might as well throw the whole thing away.

Despite the shortcomings of the armoury system in allowing a player to build their custom class, the job system does NOT make classes obsolete. The classes will have their plusses as will the jobs. They're tackling the problem of soloability and adding challenging party content very well by adding jobs. Defined roles in party play with jobs, a broader pick and mix role with class. I don't think it would ever be possible to design great content for the classes as they stood, you just can't design battles for a party of people that all can do so much (as is with the class system now)
It surely is the best way forward by keeping the classes broad and then focusing content also for the more specialised jobs.

Jobs are for those who CHOOSE to specialize. Classes are for those who don't. If you haven't figured that out by now there's no hope for you.
