    Based on the confirmed jobs posted in the Connect-On Mag I will stick with:

    GLA- PLD
    PGL - MNK
    LNC - DRG
    CON - BLM
    THM - WHM
    ARC - BRD
    MRD - WAR

    BRD was not confirmed with ARC nor was MRD equivalent mentioned but I feel they left that out on accident.

    Rich, I agree with you. I wish they had put PLD on shield, would have opened up sword but w/e they did said gld for pld.

    without knowing what mrd gets I would also assume arc gets brd, but you never know

    I dunno. MRD -> BRD makes sense. I mean, what FFXI Bard didn't use the Rune Chopper greataxe?

    I also feel that BRD will be played much like the Bard ranged class from the Dragon Age series. Not so much with instruments and songs but bows and party buffs. A corsair w/o the gun or dice if you will :3

    Ok. Call Necromancer as <put word you like>, and then add stroy to it.
    Whatever you gonna call it. I think draining mechanics is intresting. And fits welll to current Thaumaturge skill set. I can resign from raising undeads although.

    Actually PuppetMaster has been part of FF history, especially for the playable characters. It just isn't a specific Job in most cases and instead either a Skill segregated to a certain other job, or its Character Mechanic.

    For Character mechanics the two that stand out the most are Reeve > Cait Sith > Cait Siths Moogle. Reeve controls Cait Sith, Cait Sith controls his Moogle that he rides. This was a three fold Puppetmaster.

    Lulu used Puppet Dolls as her Weapons to assist her in casting spells and attacking.

    As for the individual skills. There were multiple skills that allowed a player to assume direct control over a monster in combat. These skills were never used like for instance a Beast Master would use them, and instead were a bit like tying the monster up as a marionette and using it to attack its team mates from behind. With a Beast Master the monster still has some control over its actions, but with these skills they have none.

    There is Precedents for Puppetmaster, There isn't one for Necromancer. No job has ever raised the dead as a skeleton to fight for you.

    I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders.     I see conjurer as becoming the White Mage personally, it has the largest arsenal of healing and support type abilities (Cure I-III, Protect, Shell, Poisona, Silena, Paralyna) and as Cairdeas mentioned before, the names we see aren't even in the Japanese version, they are called things like "Sword user" etc. I could be wrong, though I personally hope it turns out to be the White Mage. When I started FFXIV, I leveled Conjurer first due to the fact it had the spells I listed above, as I wanted to be a healer as my main role.

    WTF is the point of having classes and jobs in a one-to-one relationship?

    Why dont they just replace the armory system if they hate it so much?

    (Im not suggesting the replace it, btw, because I actually like the armory system. But THEY obviously dont.)
