It does start to mean you get more HP to absorb mistakes, more healing and MP to recover from them and more DPS to succeed despite deaths. So while it doesn't eliminate all skill checks, it does make surviving despite failures and recovering from deaths more feasible.

I really like how they're using the Echo buff to lessen the difficulty of certain areas. Especially in that it's removable, so those who don't want the Echo buff can just remove it and run something without it.

Is it now possible for a WAR under Thrill of Battle, to run into the walls in T5 and live?

Which is a good thing. Even at 25%, you still will need to perform well. You will have more room for error, be afforded more mistakes and stuff, but 25% to healing, defense and damage isn't going to make it so you can walk in an win blindly. I don't know why people get mad at nerfs to older content. you have already beaten it, multiple times probably. What benefit are you getting from having lesser skilled/experienced players finally see that content? Why wouldn't the developers want more people to see the content they have created? You had your fun, you overcame the initial challenge. There's new challenges to overcome now.

ah right. the fetters part. damn fetters.

In regards to T5
For my static (which has a handful of really great players and a handful of more "casually" defined players) this is going to make all the difference in the world. We were handling P1 fine (DS took us a few tries), and conflags were going OK in theory, but if our DPS wasn't having a good day we would lose someone to a fast conflag.
With a 10% boost, this should be no prob as we have both tanks, all the dps and 1 healer on fast flags.
While we were passing conflags about 70% of the time, we'd only get to see a few dive bombs in our 2 hour raiding window, with a 10% boost to HP, healing power, and dps, we will probably see them every time, get A LOT more practice, and get to start working on the snakes, etc. This echo buff will allow bubble groups to get to new skill checks regularly, allowing them to practice those checks and progress quicker - despite the fact that it does not increase your actual skill by 10%, I would argue that over time, it would increase your skill level by much more than 10% because it allows much easier access to practice mechanics : D
I like this boost, and I am one of the people that feel I definitely don't need it to progress if I were willing to ditch my friends that I've made and go to a more hard-core group. This is not only going to help those with less skill/gear, its also going to help highly skilled players progress inside 8-man content that is difficult to PUG.
I'm all smiles right now except that I'm at work until 4:00 then I have a business trip the next two days!

War could get over 10k before this echo stuff. I have at least, with thril of battle. Also who's to say its a straight 9999 dmg hit, it could be hitting for more, and the game is only designed to show a max of 9999 dmg. I believe XI was like this, and I know this isn't XI.
