Perhaps. However the quest has players in a sort of catch 22 scenario. They have stated that this is merely the first stage of what will be many stages of a quest to upgrade our relics.

Now, one could say, "there are other weapons that you could get then". True, however this seemed to be made with the casual person in mind. Someone who seems unlikely to get their weapon from T5 or Levi Ex. In that regard this is likely their only option.

Another thing to consider is that currently there are a lot of people doing the fates. The more people doing them, the easier they become. In a short time there will be less people doing them. The less people that doe the fates, the longer they take to complete. The longer they take to respawn. The longer to takes to collect all 12 and start on the next part of the quest. The fate grind has become insidious.

What kind of casual player needs their relic upgrade within a week or two of the patch launching? This is basic itemization, if you don't have to go and get 8 people together to kill a primal, hope you get your drop, and roll against other players naturally you're going to have to invest more time. Just because this is an alternative for casual players doesn't mean it ought to be an easier alternative ... does it? Can you really call this player casual anymore when he's farming 8 hours a day for something he doesn't need and making himself hate the game? It sounds more like obsessive.

Also, I'm pretty sure they said they'd lighten this grind as things fall off.
