8/12 my biggest problem is that ATMA farming is all I do. I log in and grind. Grind sol to 450, grind ATMA. That's been my experience since 2.2. I know I don't have to, but let's face it most MMO players play for the gear it's an obsession.

Most PF is full of Atma parties, I remember when more people did stuff like coils and EX or even Chimera, Ultima and CT and what not, now the majority is just Atma luck grind.
Except Atmas aren't amazing at all, they're just the entry fee to start working towards the actual reward, so there goes any point.

One of the things that bothers me the most, is that all but 2 of our static group has their atma finished. I have grinded fates as much as they, and now more because of RNG. One of us is not bothering and I only have 7/12 and have been at that for days. My other friends are now working together to grind tomes or helping each other out with the books. I am stuck behind because of pure, blind luck. One of my group actually was very lucky and got all his in the first 2 days.
And yes, there are other weapons, but I have no idea what the end product of the zodiac weapon will be. Way worse than T9 or just slightly worse, second BIS does anyone know yet?
I am honestly so frustrated right now. At least when you get to the book/tome part, there is progress that can be seen. I need X dungeon, need to kill X mobs, need 500 more tomes, 400, 300, etc. There is no way to even gauge progress with this. This is the worst implementation I have seen. Perhaps it is so the zones will feel full for the PS/4 players, but why break my back to do this?

I have no prayer for that...

That's similar to the problem I've had: my partner finished the Atma grind days ago and has been focusing on doing the books and gathering mythology, but I can't participate because I'm gated out by not being as lucky. I just got my 12th crystal, but I'm behind by three books now.One of the things that bothers me the most, is that all but 2 of our static group has their atma finished. I really feel bad for you if seeing an atma drop doesn't give you at least somewhat of a rush. Regardless, think what you will. Whatever I say won't change that.
He doesn't mean whether an Atma drop gives you a "rush" or not. He means that an Atma relic is just a 12+ Hour paint job, which also inflates your Relic ilvl from 90 to 100 for no apparent reason.

I got a rush when I bet the story, I got a rush when we beat primals up to Titan, I got a rush when we started beating Coils, I got a rush when we beat EX Primals, I got a rush when we beat Twintania. The only thing I got from Atmas is a feeling of I'm glad it's over, at least for now until my next weapon, I'll get a rush when I complete my Animus because that actually involves something else than just raw luck.

This is the crux of the problem right here. Finishing the Atma grind isn't an accomplishment because it's 100% luck, your effort is not rewarded proportionally. The feeling you get when you finish it isn't accomplishment, it's relief that you're finally finished and don't have to do this thankless, endless grinding anymore. The Animus upgrades, however, your effort is rewarded proportionally, so it is an accomplishment to finish. The goal is clear-cut and you are guaranteed to make progress every time you set out to do so.
I don't get a rush of accomplishment when I see an Atma drop. It's pure relief that I can check off another zone from the list.

THIS! I've been grinding for about 56 hours in total now with 8/12 to show for it. All this while a ton of people from my FC already have their Atma and are a book or two into the next phase. Where does this make sense? Why do games constantly try to reintroduce hashed versions of the skinner box effect? This is the crux of the problem right here. took me over 100 hours to get mine, but i'm glad it's something to work towards and am enjoying the quest.THIS! I've been grinding for about 56 hours in total now with 8/12 to show for it.
