BTW, you can edit your post to get over the 1000 character limit.
Also, FFXIV received an award for being handicapped accessible - http://www.ablegamers.com/ablegamers...me-of-the-year
And I totally agree with being compassionate![]()

Sorry to be "That guy" but this isn't going to happen.
In the world we live in now where it is better and socially acceptable to tread someone underfoot to get somewhere is common I seriously doubt that this will convince anyone for even a second.
It is acceptable to belittle someone publicly and applauded.
Where rudeness is commonplace and the word "thank you" is all but dead.
My mom plays some of my online games with me (she's 57) and she has the same issues. She doesn't like people yelling at her when she can't react fast enough so sometimes she refuses to do the high level content unless it's just me and her.I know the feeling. My mother plays and she's 65. Her reflexes (both mental and physical) have slowed. She does the best she can but I think she may have hit her limit with story mode Garuda. She's just not fast enough to take out the plumes. And after the way one tank behaved when we kept wiping, she's refusing to do anymore dungeons unless it's a FC group since they are very understanding and willing to work twice as hard to make up for her slow reflexes.
I've learned to be very tolerant of others when it comes to pugging dungeons and raids.
It has never been socially acceptable to belittle someone. I think most people feel it's easier to ignore someone who is being bullied rather than go out of their way to stand up for that person.Sorry to be "That guy" but this isn't going to happen.

Actually, I have yet to complete a dungeon where everyone did not say "thank you" or "good run" or "good group" or something to that effect. By the way, I was practically in tears reading the initial post. I hope that everyone can remember that they all ran a dungeon for a first time.
Stories like the OP make me happy. It's always good to hear someone not letting obstacles keep them from doing something they enjoy.
And it's a good reminder that, no matter how much time we spend playing, or how seriously we take it, it's still just a game. If someone makes a mistake, it's not the end of the world.
Great post OP. I'm glad to hear this and it truly warms my heart![]()
I am a winner, even though I sometimes fail.
Great post. The MMO culture that is littered with sociopaths/anarchists needs more stories like this to show them what empathy really is.
Maybe change that line just a little bit. But yeah I've seen some pretty inspirational videos about handicap people playing games and sometimes well enough to be inspiring to others. This is not related to Final Fantasy but it's sort of the same deal with a handicap player playing amongst the best of them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83nSodg-HTU
Idk, I was kind of trying to make a point. I realized using the word "retard" comes off insensitive, but that right there was my point. People throw that word around like it means nothing, but there are many people out there that live with different degrees of mental debilitation, many of which are perfectly capable of understanding what the word "retard" means when used in a negative connotation.Maybe change that line just a little bit. Great post OP.
