
Waiting for this to blow over; hoping people will still be at it by the time of the PS4 release so the game won't look so dead pre-50; preparing to make some incredibly minor concession in a month

Here is another thing to consider. The relic quest itself is fairly short. It is composed of five fights, each of which can easily be done in ten minutes or less. Then there is also the portion where you must kill x number of creatures with the unfinished relic, takes thirty minutes at most. There is also AK, which can be completed in thirty minutes also. Prior to the patch you needed 900 philosophy to buy the cooling oil. Speed runs of CM took about thirty minutes. You add all of this up and you come up with about seven hours of actual game time. Why? Why does it take more time to get 1/12th, of the first part of this quest done, than it did for the entire weapon itself?



This pretty much, it's a trick to make the game and most open world areas aside from Revenant's seem livelier than they had regularly been for the beta and earlier release players, or if you want to be positive and look at it nicely, to make it easier for new players to do FATEs I guess. There's also the good old artificial content extension for existing players so they don't "rush" through it all.

I don't people do understand why we hate it. Look, we don't care of we have to numerous of fates or whatever. But we have to count on RNG that could take days, weeks or months to get what we need? Hell no, it's so wrong! I was in a party and one person was there much longer than people that have joined them got less time and less effort. It was not fair to people who work too long to get one while other take less to get one. NO QUESTS should be done by flawed RNG.

Unfortunately I think this is true. It all seems like a brilliant idea on paper - something to keep people occupied in the world, making it populated for the beta, but not requiring much in the way of development, and also meeting the demands for longer-term goals and content without lockouts as requested by some parts of the player base. They'll want to let all that play out for a while before helping anyone with it.
I was lucky yesterday to get one, but still nothing in Southern Thanalan after another couple of hours today (about six so far). Still seven crystals to go. At least my chocobo ranked up...

Yot know what's funny? One would expect that as days pass, people would get their Atmas and move on but no, it seems to get more crowded every day. Now it's almost impossible to claim credit for it if you don't reach there within two minutes of the fate spawning. Not taking any sides, just am interesting observation, at least on my server ^
farmed atmas this days , finally finished the quest, farmed tomes , bought the book.....
for +2 stat i have to do 3 dungeons (1 low , 1 mid and 1 experte) , kill lots of mobs (100) , do 3 leves , do 3 fates ....and thats just for +2 dex , after u finish all the work , gain 1500 tomes for another book /repeat
in the end 9 dex , 4 vit , 4 acc and 2 skill speed upgrade after a huge grind (27 dungeons , 900 mobs ,27 fates ,27 leves and 13.500 tomes)....at least i cant say that i have nothing to do![]()
hope we are able to change the stats later on ,because skill speed ugh....

if the quest started in the books
atmas sucks....and its infuriating farming fates for 5h w/o nothing to show , i tho SE learned already that RNG SUCKS ,and low chance to drop itsnt the way to go.
I dont know what SE was thinking.

that they wouldn't lose enough subscriptions over this that it would become unfeasible to remain operational, and the bump from the PS4 release would mean they would maintain a steady subscriber base regardless.
yoshi-p is a smart, smart dude, and if content this awful got released it was after a lot of calculating to make sure that the lost subscriptions wouldn't be enough to scuttle the game and the promise of "future upgrades" to keep enough people hooked that they'll keep paying for another few months.
