Cut scene skippers are why I go in dungeons with my mother. For one thing it's hard to do fights when you're down a healer and for another thing, no one should be harassing a 65 year old woman who's cool enough to play mmos with her child.

Luckily we've never come across anyone like that yet and everyone has been helpful and patient. Though my FC is determined to bring her to coil...

Reminds me of some old CM/Pre runs. Few deaths at best, wiping at worst to bosses or just before them because healers wanted to watch the CS.

    EX:
Right before first boss on that long path in CM. Mobs pulled to the purple line then killed before triggering first boss CS. Someone gets bumped over for whatever reason. Healers watch long CS and DPS fall because they skipped and had to deal with the mobs with no healers.

Hell I have had death on the FIRST PULL because healers watch the CS when the spotlights are shut off.

This. Duty Finder is "default" mode. This means you should expect to watch cutscenes, possibly end up with a player that has never been there before, and low ilvls. If you want to speed run it, that is what party finder is for. Nothing frustrates me more than an impatient person trying to force a newbie to skip their story. If you don't want to watch cutscenes, no one is forcing you to duty finder.

So before roulette, people were mad because they wanted to speed run CM/P. Now they are mad because they are doing roulette, and want to get it over with. It's really unfortunate. If people don't want to wait on CS, just go speed run HM:H, its very quick, 15mins or less if your quick enough. You can probably get at least 3 of those done in the time it takes to beat CM/P with players that want to watch all the CS, maybe more. Roulette was implemented mainly so that people would help others that are new. And your given bonus's for that help your giving. Now to turn around and push people to skip CS, so you can just get the reward anyways, that's just sad. Perhaps they should implement a way to disable the reward, if all CS are skipped. That would change things a little bit. It wont hurt the new people much, there's plenty of vet players like me that give them the time they need to enjoy their first run through. Also sense lots of people are going to be spamming HM:H or even the new dungeons in a couple days, jump on that boat, it'll net you more myth/soldiery/gil overall, and you won't have to spend so much stressful time trying to "help" new players do their dungeon.

Experienced players run these for the daily tome bonus. Which can only be obtained if you queue solo....

I agree with others. New players should start a PF group asking for others that want to enjoy the story. Prae can take upwards of an extra half hour if you watch and read everything.

using the duty finder is not the problem. SE created the duty roulette in order to give the more experience players incentives to go back and do the low levels and main story dungeons. as the game gets older this will be necessary to ensure that new players can still get those things done. the problem then comes with the cutscences. especially in CM and Prae because those cutscences can be rather long. so who should win out? the newbie experiencing the main story line for the first time or the veteran who is only running it to get his daily bonus from the duty roulette? I don't see SE taking a side in this.

This does make me curious as to what rewards the DR will provide for Story Runs now. I know they are doing away with Tomestones of Philosophy and have said anything that gave Philo will now give Mythology, but it seems pretty ridiculous to keep it at 300 myth for running a Story DR. Will it give the same bonus as other dungeons/a little less?

If the rewards are lowered drastically for DR, it's possible this problem would resolve itself. Until then, PF is your best option for story runs because most people want their Darklight/Crafting items quickly and rush through for the 300 Philo.

EDIT: I don't condone it myself, but it comes down to a community issue overall. You just have to use what you got.

DF will always have new people in it that want to watch the cutscenes.

The game doesn't even tell you about the party finder. The tutorial says to use DF, people are going to use it. If you feel differently, then either explain (nicely) to them that they could use PF to do story (but don't be surprised if they still watch CS in a DF), or go use it yourself for speed runs and wait until they can let you queue up a roulette as a party.

Also, to the one that said CS in DF is harassment, you need to learn what harassment means.

I got lucky and did the storyline dungeons within the first week or so, when there were plenty of other people still doing them for the first time so I wasnt pressured, although in praetorium some drg did try to start the final fight while others were still in cutscene. Luckily the tanks and healers (myself included) were all in the fc so we just let them die.

The solution is to not let people harrass you into it, and dont let others harrass people into it. If you don't want cutscenes, use the party finders. You should never go into duty finder and expect something like no cutscenes, speedruns, etc. Its nice if you can do it, and ask everyone if they're okay with it, but if you want to do something specific you should use the party finder.

Too many people dont speak up enough about it. I made several friends just from going into CM back in the day, having someone harrass new players for watching CM and then telling them to let them watch the cutscenes otherwise I wouldnt heal them. Nobody else said a word about it until I did, making the new player feel as though they had to skip, then others started speaking up as well and it became apparent only one or two people of the group was trying to make them skip.

HAH! Yeah... okay.... You seriously queue up for duty finder under the assumption that the group you're going to get will be quick and successful?
