Solution to the Cutscene Skipping Dilemma

This a suggested solution SE can implement.

Problem: Too many new player are being harassed and forced to skip cutscenes.

Solution: When a new player is playing a dungeon for the first time and queued using the duty finder, no cutscene skipping will be allowed for anyone, in exchange rewards are increased 10% for the all the other players except the new player.

This should be easily implemented and the new players won't have to feel like that they are being harassed.

So like at Castrum Meridianum, the old timers will get 110 tomestones instead of 100, to make up for the little bit of lost time for the cutscenes.

Or.... the new player can make a Party Finder indicating no cutscene skipping. :/ They already provided the tools....

Increase it to 50% and you will ensure that nobody skips them. Hell lets go crazy and make it 100%. Because let's face it, if speed runners had to watch cutscenes they'd just stop running it. While that wouldn't be so bad, those end of level dungeons need a lot of people doing them.

If they don't want to skip the cutscenes they can do as Lemon8or suggested and use PF with the no skipping option checked. One assumes fairly quick runs when using the DF.

I should add the solution should only apply to the duty finder. Party finder is for the experienced players and not the new player.

New players use the duty finder. They may not even be in a FC. You experienced should use the party finder and find people doing exactly what you want. The new player has not clue what they really want. So to expect them to do otherwise is nonsensical.

    As for:
"Increase it to 50% and you will ensure that nobody skips them. Hell lets go crazy and make it 100%. Because let's face it, if speed runners had to watch cutscenes they'd just stop running it. While that wouldn't be so bad, those end of level dungeons need a lot of people doing them."

50% is way to much. How much more time does cutscene add. Probably 10% at best. In any case, what are the odds you get a new player, not all that high, because once a player played thru once, they are no longer new. So the odds of hitting that on the duty finder is going to be low. In any case, SE has the data, the number they can tune that 10% or 15.567% or whatever they think is fair based on the odds and time lost.

OR, you just let them watch the cutscenes, and not ruin the end of story experience. Seriously, watching the cutscenes disjointed, in your inn, when only you, not the whole party are visible, is no fun.

I'm sincerely surprised this is still a thing......by now I'd think most cut-scene skippers wouldn't even be running castrum o_o
If you're worried about skippers, I suggest starting a party finder on your server and checking the "no cut scene skipping" in the party options.
I did that for my 2 friends finishing their story so that they would be able to watch everything without being pressured to skip or miss any fights.
Ended up making some friends afterwards, so it was worth it!

While we're at it, let's make require ilevel 90 minimum to use the Party Finder! Can't have any scrub casuals ruining one of the best features in the game!

Here's what the Party Finder should look like.
