The post you're replying to specifically says we should be able to send mail to other members of the same free company without first friend-listing them. That would let you mail to alts (edit: providing they are in the same FC) without friending them but would still keep gil sellers from mailing you. Unless the gil seller is in your FC, in which case they should either be kicked or told to improve their account security.

Seriously, all you folks at SE, you are bringing to this game lots of great new content and features that make this gem shine all the brighter, but the restrictions you have placed on in-game mail messages border on the ludicrous.

Please, let us send mail to ourselves. Please, let us send mail to our Free Company mates without having to send a friend request to the several hundred characters on our FC Member List.

Agree, i doubt it would take much to allow us to add our alt characters to our friends list.

Considering that you used to be able to do it... no, it wouldn't take much at all.

As for RMT, most games easily combat it by placing a miniscule fee on sending mail. So small in fact, that most people don't even notice it. But to an RMT that needs to send out thousands upon thousands of mail? It adds up quick, especially when tells are free.

Considering my *whispers* are spammed non stop while I am playing I think using the RMT song has lost its validity. OR does having your whispers spammed only become a problem if you are in a dungeon? If the RMTers could mail me, is blocking them on the mail page any different to having to block them in my friend list?

The RMT issue is part of the game and its sad to see game features we would all like to have removed to solve a problem that is not solved. 5-10 RMT whispers every 15 minutes and sometimes more OR maybe I shouldnt say that because SE will block ALL whispers to remove the problem.

Whenever I get a tell I almost automatically b-list the teller. On those rare occasions when I get a legitimate (non-RMT) tell my brain momentarily freezes up from the confusion over how to deal with it.
